As the author, it is my strong conviction that love and lust are two separate emotions with distinct characteristics. Love is a deep-seated emotion that endures through thick and thin, and can only be extinguished when trust between two individuals is broken. In contrast, lust is an unpredictable and fleeting feeling that often leads to chaos and confusion in its aftermath.
It is worth noting that love does not necessarily require physical attraction. A platonic relationship can be equally fulfilling and rewarding as a physical one, particularly in a marriage. When two people share a deep emotional connection, their physical bodies need not be involved. In fact, physical intimacy can be viewed as a bonus, rather than a necessary component of a loving relationship.
That is a point I want to make before you begin reading.
This book is to show that a marital relationship can be platonic, private, yet loving.
A marriage's foundation is on trust, companionship, and understanding. If it lacks any of those 3 components, then it's destruction is imminent.
The union of 2 peoples souls brings bliss to them for a lifetime, while one can bind their bodies to anyone and forget it minutes later. Not only in the present day, but Satyavati too is a prime example of this.
Yes, for this book I could have chose from a million couples.
But the idea that Bhishma, a rather flat character throughout the epic, may have a past, something that introduces a whole different angle to his personality, alongside a range of possibilities.
I just wished to get this point across, and clear up any confusion you may have.
