"Surprises are everywhere in life. And they usually come from misjudging people for being less than they appear."― Brownell Landrum

Bhishma. A man who knew what he was doing during his entire tenure as either Hastinapur's proxy ruler, or as the commander of the Kuru Army.
Indeed this towering, intimidating Kuru Prince would leave a mark on history, as a great warrior, and a man who could have gone down as the greatest king the Kuru Kingdom ever had. But he was no king, much to the disappointment of the residents of Hastinapur.
Instead he was a servant to the throne and the man who would sit on it. Then it was that man's decision whether Bhishma would be worth using as a weapon of warfare or a guide in politics
So it comes as a surprise that this tempered Prince would have a completely different side. One where he doesn't have to care for anything. Or so that's how the story goes of him and his lady.
No doubt this intriguing tale has multiple ups and downs, but this tale is of a known man, and a hidden woman. A tale bedazzled with the jewels of fortune, and a bit of luck.

Suravi. A woman whose kindness spoke volumes during her years as the only married woman in the Kuru Dynasty. Whose mere presence could change a situation for the better.
Life was not kind to her, but that didn't prevent her from becoming the strong woman whose quick thinking may have saved Bhishma from falling to his doomed spirit for a long time. Her delicate tongue and spiritual nature brought a balance, a force of opposition, to her husband's sharp proclamations and worldly entanglements.
She thrived in the mess she found herself in, like a lotus flower. A description that fit nearly every Kuru Kulvadhu who would join the household in the following years.
It was worth it, to her, at the end.
Maybe there was a purpose for her presence behind the great Kuru epic that the world would witness. A purpose more important than one could assume.
