"I'm sorry," I quickly apologized. "I didn't see-"
Black didn't let me finish, "Of course. What are you, blind or too stupid to pay attention?"
I took a step back, afraid of what else she has to throw at me.
But luckily, she began to walk away. "Just like a dog," she mutters. "Always in the damn way." However, luck ran out when she pauses and turns back around to face me again. "Actually, worse than a dog. A dog wouldn't be completely worthless to me. All you're ever good for is keeping Green company. Only Green! Why do I bother keeping you around?!"
By now I had backed myself up against the wall. I want to run away, but I don't want her to come after me for it.
What did I even do to get her so angry at me?
I ran into her while turning a corner.
Suddenly, Green appears around the very same corner. "Hey, hold on. He's a lot more than a dog," He tries.
However, Black wasn't having it. "Don't you dare try to defend him. You barely have any more worth than him. You're in no position to talk."
"But we collect fragments all the time for you."
"Half as many, in twice the time as anyone else can alone. I'm lucky you two can do that much." She just kept growing angrier and angrier as she continued on. "It wouldn't make a damn difference if either of you were here or not."
And yet it seemed as if Green wasn't affected by her anger in even the slightest. "There would be a lot of difference! We do more than you realize."
"Oh, right. The others might be sad if you were gone, but that's about it. But unlike you, Blue doesn't even have the privilege of being liked by the others."
I whisper to Green before he could make things any worse, "Will you shut up?!"
He didn't. "No way, Azul is loved by everyone. And he can do anything you make him! He basically carries the missions you put us on!"
"Shut up, shut up," I mutter to him.
"Oh, really?" Black asks, crossing her arms.
"Yeah! He's super amazing."
"Shut up."
"You just don't realize it."
Black threw a glance my way, instantly shutting me up. While her anger hadn't disappeared, a smile found its way to her face. "I guess he's just always cowering around me for me to ever take notice. You know what, here!" She hands me an orange card.
Already I can tell I'm going to be in horrible trouble because of Green's attempt to help. I hesitantly take the card from her.
"If you're really as amazing as Green says, you should have no problem completing this!" Her tone was sickeningly playful. I couldn't help but feel as if I messed up terribly just by being here. "Someone so amazing should get a chance after all." She leaned in close to pat my head and lowered her voice, "Just don't mess up now."
With that, Black finally turned around to leave me alone. I anxiously read the card she's now having me do.
"What are we doing?" Green asks.
However, Black quickly shot that down. "Blue's going alone."
"Aye, right," he murmured.
My grip tightened on the card, crumpling it in my hands.
"Well, what do you have to do then?"
I didn't answer him, instead I dropped the card and harshly grabbed his shoulders. "Why didn't you just shut up?!" I demanded in a loud whisper. "I'm gonna fail and then I'm gonna get killed at the very least! And it's all your fault!"
He grabbed my hands and pulled them off of him. "Hey, hey. It's not going to be that bad. Orange just collects a lot more fragments than us. It's not going to be bad."
That only brought my fear and anger over my head. I couldn't help but start speaking to him in Spanish over it. "Well, not this time! How am I supposed to bring someone on the other side all the way across the country?!"
He took a step back. "You have to what?" He asks in English.
I grabbed my head. "To kidnap. How?!"
"Aye, no, no." He grabbed my hands from me and wrapped an arm around me, trying to calm me down from a panic attack before it fully begins. Green switched over to Spanish with me as he said, "Look, you will be OK. You will be amazing! Everything will work out. Don't panic, please. I know that you will find a way, I believe in you."
"I don't believe in me."
"And that is what you're doing wrong! If you also believe in yourself, everything will work out just how it should."
"This is all your fault."
"It is, and I'm sorry. I only didn't want her to talk so bad of you."
I pull away from him and grab my card from off the ground. "Just let her next time," I say before making my way towards the front door. I know that he really meant good, but he couldn't have made that worse if he tried to. I would rather deal with Black's abuse than to have to prove I'm a disapointment and get worse abuse.
I brought the card up to the sky and read it, over and over again. I have to find Brown and bring her to the address written on the card. An address all the way in New York, New York.
Why New York? We're in Arizona. Why can't we stay in Arizona?
To make it worse, I have to get there in three days.
Could Orange make the trip in three days?!
I sigh and pick up my pace towards Holbrook, where I know the Radients stay. This is going to be fun...
I was lucky enough to hitch a ride from a stranger on the way, which I was very thankful for. The drive alone takes almost an hour, walking wouldn't have been easy, especially with my time limit..
By the time I arrived to Holbrook, it was already growing dusk. I could hardly keep myself from shaking from the stress. I guess now I have to find Brown. Where ever she is in this entire town...
I carefully walked down street after street. Hope is very low. I'm fully expecting to fail this dumb mission. I'm not confident I could even find her before my time limit is up. Who knows if Brown is outside? Much less in this stupid town!
