Chapter 35 First tears (Alec's POV)

When the pain finally quit I knew Morgan was gone and there was nothing I could do now to save her. She was dead while we were all here doing just fine. It felt like my heart had been ripped clean out of my chest and I was empty without her. Julia and Collin were hovering over me trying to get me to respond to them but if Morgan was gone then I might as well be also.

“Alec what’s wrong” Julia cried shaking my shoulder as I lay on the hard ground.

“She’s gone” I whispered sitting up to see Collin and Julia right in front of me. Julia was shaking her head back and forth as the tears started falling down her face.

Julia threw herself at me, her tiny fists trying to hit me as I caught her wrist to stop her. She was shaking and fighting to get loose but she will never be stronger than me even on my worse day. But I knew what she was doing, she thought I was lying to her.

“NO, SHE ISN’T DEAD. DON’T YOU LIE TO ME” she screamed still trying to hit me. Collin moved over to us pulling Julia into his arms as she broke down screaming and crying.

“Take her out of here” I told Collin as I slowly stood up looking around to see all my men watching me and Shawn, Blake and Samantha were all sitting in front of me looking down at the ground. They hadn’t shifted back and I couldn’t stand to see them knowing they might of felt something when she died. She wasn’t their mate so it wouldn’t affect them as bad but it was still a connection.

Ace walked up to me looking horrible and I wasn’t sure why. He managed to wipe out a dozen werewolves and zombies and looks fine but as soon as he hears Morgan is dead he looks like shit. We didn’t say a word as we walked inside and I made my way up to Morgan’s room. I wasn’t sure there was anything that would ever make me feel better. Only that little woman could make me feel better and now she was gone. I hadn’t been happy for a long time and once I saw her the first time I knew I would never be the same without her. As much as I fought it at first I knew I was drawn to her in a way even I didn’t understand. Spending more time with her proved to be very entertaining and the more I was around her the more I wanted her. Then when I finally get her I lose her.

Grabbing her phone off the nightstand I laid down staring at her picture and for the first time in my life I felt the sting of tears in my eyes. How am I going to go on without her now? It is one thing living without a mate when you don’t know who they are it’s another thing when you have mated with them and have such a strong connection as me and Morgan. Losing her has just left an empty hole inside me that will never be repaired.

I don’t remember falling asleep but when I woke up Ace was sitting in the room with Samantha. She was wearing a black tank top and jean shorts, her hair pulled back away from her face and eyes were red and swollen.

“Is she really gone” Samantha whispered. I rubbed my hands over my face and sat up on the bed looking at her nodding. She started shaking and Ace pulled her to his chest as she silently cried.

“How? How can she be gone” Samantha asked her voice muffled in Ace’s shoulder.

“I don’t know but Julia said something about zombies attacking when Morgan sent her back here. If Jace didn’t save her then who knows what happened” I said.

“Well they were at the cemetery right? Let’s go see for ourselves” Ace said. I could of kicked myself for not thinking of that sooner.

“Let’s go” I said and teleported to the cemetery. Ace and Samantha showed up right beside me and what we saw was ten times worse than what we could have done. Bodies were everywhere some of them were tore apart like Jace got ahold of them but most looked like someone shoved a bomb inside them.  There were bones scattered all over but there was no sign of Morgan. The smell of corpses filled the air and even with the sun bright in the sky things just looked dull and lifeless. I spotted the place in the cemetery where Julia said Rubin was killed. Blood was everywhere, his body had been ripped to pieces and strewn all over the place.
