Chapter 25 New Acquaintances

 I took off into the woods feeling the freezing cold air whip around me. I had no clue where I was going but I was happy to be away from the house. It wasn’t dark yet but the trees covered the sun even without leaves to make it darker than I liked. But I kept running as fast as my feet would carry me. There was no sound behind me which was strange because I figured Jace would be right behind me.

After a while I had to stop because I couldn’t breathe anymore and my legs were screaming in agony. I kept walking though listening to everything around me when I heard a twig snap in front of me. My body froze, as I looked around listening to everything. It was so quiet there weren’t even birds chirping which wasn’t exactly a good sign. The sun was completely gone and it was dark enough I couldn’t see more than a few inches in front of me. Another sound beside me had me spinning around to see what was there. My body was shaking from the cold and fear as I rubbed my arms. Trying to be quiet wasn’t working because my teeth were chattering and every step I took seemed to make enough noise to wake up the dead.

I started walking slowly trying to ignore the fear shooting through my body until I heard a low growl from right behind me. Again I froze. Its hot breath was on my neck and freaking me out. I’m sure it’s Jace but still I slowly turned around. I sucked in a deep breath at the glowing purple eyes that were staring down at me. Its fur midnight black and looked huge at least two feet taller than me. It had purple eyes though so it wasn’t Jace.

“P-please d-don’t eat me” I said my teeth chattering from the cold making it hard to talk.

The wolf growled in my face before pushing its nose against my hair breathing me in. The heat from his body was chasing away my chill and I was tempted to move closer. But I wasn’t stupid this animal could tear me to pieces before I could move so I stood still letting him sniff me. My eyes closed so if he did decide that I’d make a good snack I wouldn’t see. He pulled back and nudged my chest making me stumble back a little. I felt something behind me and turned to see a huge brown wolf and my eyes damn near popped out of my head when I saw another black one with some white spots. I go from one pack of wolves to another, what the fuck is up with that?

Moving back a step I bumped into the black one behind me and got a low growl from one of the wolves in front of me. At that moment I was ready to zap myself somewhere else.

“What the hell” I squealed when I felt arms wrap around my body. He was warm his body heat radiating through me making me warm but I still tried to pull away from him. After struggling a few minutes he finally let me go and I spun around ready to, well I don’t know what I was gonna do because I froze.

My mouth dropped when I saw him completely naked and felt my cheeks warm up when they roamed down his well-toned body before I looked away. He had chocolate colored skin with smooth features, full lips and soft brown almost honey colored eyes. The smile he gave me wasn’t what I expected but it doesn’t surprise me. All the mystical creatures I’ve met seem very cocky.

“So little one what are you doing out here” he said moving closer but I stepped back. That’s when I heard a growl beside me. I slowly turned to see the other black wolf to my left and the brown one on my right.

“Shift” the guy in front of me said a power emanating from his voice. I watched the wolves slowly start changing. It was like water poured over them washing away the fur and revealing beautiful skin as the bones changed and formed into human bodies. The two wolves stood up, one had blond hair with light blue eyes the other had flaming red hair and green eyes. Both were also naked and I could feel my cheeks burning again. Naked men everywhere I looked, oh wouldn’t Alec be so jealous.
