When Jaden invited Samantha and I to the home studio that our mom had built for him in the backyard, I was not expecting to see our father playing the drums in the booth. It seems as if everyone is trying to force us to be around our father despite all his harsh words and I'm not ok with that.
"Cool jacket." Tommy tells me and I nod in his direction. "Where'd you get it from?"
"Why do you even care?" Sam snaps at him. "You're hardly going to buy it for yourself."
Tommy purses his lips at us, "Maybe I could have checked something out for Britta-"
"You can't afford it." I give him a look that makes him narrow his eyes at us. "Neither can she."
"That's uncalled for."
I take a sip of my green juice, "Atleast we're not filing for bankruptcy like some people."
Tommy decides not to respond to my remark which I'm grateful for because I'm not in the mood to be dealing with his bullshit. He loves to dish it but when it's time to take it, he turns into a man child which really pisses me off.
You never hit me when you're sober, it's already over
I'm already off that, it's alright
You never hit me when you're sober, too late to come over
Sick of sayin' sorry for last night (yeah)Jaden has improved so much since he first decided that a music career was something that he wanted and seeing him own the booth makes me feel like a proud mom. When I agreed to help him out with his music, I was worried that he would not live up the expectations that he set himself but he has exceeded them.
"He's so good." Sam comments while filming him on her phone.
Go back to hell, go find yourself
You fucked me over too many times that I can help
I'm burnin' our pictures so I don't remember
Every single time you only thought of yourself"That's the shit right there." I call out as he expertly switches up the way the last line sound and I can't help the smile that keeps growing on my face. Once Jaden has gone through the song a couple of times, he makes his way out of the booth and I throw myself at him.
"You killed it." Tommy tells him as he gives his shoulder a pat. "Keep doing that shit and you will be the number one artist."
"It's one thing to ace your studio recording but you need to bring the same energy plus a hundred to the stage." My brother nods his head in understanding. "Here it's quiet and you have headphones on but when you are out there on that stage, it will be loud as fuck. The only thing you'll have is your earpiece which is why it's important to practice in large spaces and communicate."
