Chapter 2: A Ticket

Later that night, after the twins went home and had dinner with the rest of their family, they decided to go out and buy midnight snacks at the convenience store a few blocks away from them.

The two walked outside wrapping themselves in each other's sweaters to fight the chilly night breeze. They were talking about what happened to Kiko earlier when she met Fujio's mother.

Nozomi amusingly smiled as she listened to her sister talking about how she was overwhelmed by Hanaoka's matriarch's energy.

"That's surprising," she told Kiko, "I never knew anyone can beat you."

"I know!" the older twin exclaimed as the two laughed.

The girls reached the store and entered, quickly looking for their favorite snacks. Nozomi grabbed canned sodas and a box of Pocky while Kiko picked instant ramen and a bag of potato chips. They met at the counter as they paid for what they bought.

The twins exited the store, laughing and chatting about random things when Nozomi bumped her shoulder into someone.

"I'm so–"

"Watch it." Nozomi looked up at the guy who glared at her. She swallowed awkwardly as she nodded.

The male was the same age as them, his ash gray hair sticking like a sore thumb as the streetlights cast down on him. He held his gaze as if he was looking down on the youngest Odajima. He dusted off his shoulder where Nozomi bumped into him.

"Yeah, sorry," Nozomi muttered as she glanced at her sister. Kiko was already glaring at the male and was about to say something when Nozomi pulled her to leave.

"What the hell was that guy's problem?" Kiko asked, glancing back at the guy who already disappeared in her line of sight.

The younger twin shook her head, letting out a sigh, "Let it go, Kiko."

"He's freaking rude, 'ya know!"

"I know. But let it go," Nozomi calmly said, "It's not worth it."

"Did you see what he did?" Kiko questioned, "He dusted off his shoulder where you had contact. He was looking down on us!"

Nozomi let out a sigh for the second time that night. She didn't respond to her sister as she also wonder how that guy stared at her as if she was inferior to him.
