I am a big fan of 11Bit Studios' Frostpunk. It features a beautiful and strongly emotional soundtrack that I've grown fond of in time and, I say this in all honesty, helped me through some dark days in my life where I was sad or upset.
The game itself is skillfully crafted and although I'm not skilled enough to beat the game on Survivor Difficulty because of the harsh weather conditions and on account of how many people die from illness, I still play it every now and then just for the pleasure of seeing a city grow.
I decided to write this fanfic after I played Honkai: Star Rail and arrived at Jarilo IV in Belobog where most things reminded me of Frostpunk. I also felt that Belobog itself needed a more... grim setting, like in Frostpunk where abandoned buildings are well depicted in artworks and given a well-written description to help the reader/player get a good mental image of what they are presented with.
I did my best in this fanfic to shorten the chapters, but in many places, I feel that I've rushed too much and spoiled the story. I hope that's just my imagination and that readers who can spare the time to give the story a try will be able to forgive my poor writing skills.
As always, if you can spare the time to tell your honest opinion of the story, it would be greatly appreciated.
03.01.2024 - I apologize for the late update and my inability to keep my promise to a certain reader. I have had difficulties where someone outright stole Chronicle of Burden and posted it on an Asian site and earned money from it through services similar to "buy me a coffee". This was made known to me by a friend on Discord who frequents these sites in search of good stories and stumbled over it by accident.
I've contacted the site admins and after a long debate, the issue has been resolved. The admin handling the issue stated that the thief's account has been permanently removed and that he/she won't be able to register in the future. The donations earned cannot be touched (not that I was interested in monetary gain) and the site will work harder to prevent such shameful things in the future from happening again.
I admit, I was expecting something like this to happen. But what upset me the most is that I wrote these things for people to read in their free time, not to make money off of it. This event left me hurt deeply so I stopped writing altogether on a story that I should have published last year, but I lost my motivation entirely and needed time. I'm sorry.
