It was rare for Jim and Sara to allow 3 to go out on a mission on his own, more often than not one of the other members were sent to watch him. Clearly he was not trusted amongst his own team. But that never bothered him, he rather enjoyed the company anyway. Todays job was simple, go talk to Ultacleth and retrieve the information he had gathered on the recent spontaneous blackouts. Not power cuts, no no, the sun would randomly be covered by a dark shape and everything would go dark. It seemed less than usual and so some people had begun to investigate it. The street was dark and quiet (not a blackout, just a late night) the only discernible sound being 3's own footsteps and the constant whispering in the alleyways. They had tried to get rid of any damned spirits hiding in alleyways but no matter what they did, within a week they would have all congregated there once again, and so people now just avoid alleys after dark. It's easier than being cursed by some bitter old fart who lived a miserable life and is now 'living' a miserable afterlife.
3 wasn't sure why Ultacleth had asked him to meet him where he had but he knew better than to question the being. His ego was fragile and he took questions as someone challenging his intelligence. The house looked old and sat on the end of the street, slightly separated from the others as if they were embarrassed to be seen around a house so raggedy and delipidated. 'There is no way someone is living in this dump..' 3 thought to himself as he walked up the path, brushing the overgrown grass and thistles away. Before he even reached the door, someone pushed it open, tripping down the steps and muttering curses under their breath. They paused when they spotted 3 and made an unintelligible noise that somewhat resembled an exasperated scream. 3 smiled and waved at them, staying silent for a few moments. He spoke after a couple of seconds of awkward staring and tense silence. "You live here? And is Ultacleth or Elias here right now?"
The mystery man straightened himself up and stared at 3, eyeing him up and down. "The fuck are you suppose to be, a weird Ronald McDonald x Arachne love child? No I don't live in this shit hole." The rather rude mystery man stared behind him before looking back at 3 and falling silent again. Letting out an irritated sigh, 3 squinted at the man and pursed his lips together. "Thanks for answering my TWO questions, may I get past?" The man just continued to stare, not moving and also not speaking. 3 was about to ask him again before someone swung round the door and laughed at the two. "Hiya! 3, was it? Sammuel can you come inside and stop making him uncomfortable?" The mystery man, now apparently called Sammuel, stared at the blonde before nodding and walking back inside without another word. 3 could easily recognize Ultacleth, even if his human disguise often changed in small ways, the uncanny look he gave off being a dead giveaway that he was not human despite wearing the skin of one.
"Yes, 3's the name, killing's the game! Might I ask why you're here?" 3 walked up the steps and went inside after Elias moved from the door and gestured for him to enter. "Sammuel and I needed to help out some guy who lives here. Been having trouble preserving his body. I figured it would be easier for you to just come here rather than making me go to two different places." He walked into a room that from a glance seemed to be a living space, or at least use to be. 3 didn't say anything despite knowing that Elias could teleport and therefore going to two separate locations would hardly be a bother for the man, instead he just followed him. Two other people were in the room, the rude man from outside and another tall gentleman laying across the floor who looked to possibly be dead. Elias noticed him staring and chuckled, flicking through a few sheets of paper. "That's the fella we're helping, Franklin. This is 3 by the way, just swinging by to grab some info on the recent blackouts."
Sammuel (to nobodies surprise) remained silent and scowled at 3. Franklin lifted his head slightly and grunted at him, lifting an oversized hand to tip an old raggedy hat that lay upon his birds nest of hair. "Sorry the place isn't all too cosy! Haven't been in the best of shapes recently, struggle to take care of it." He went limp once again, neck cracking as his head laid back down on the floor. 3 hissed through his teeth and nodded. "It's fine, I can see that. I'll only be here a second n then I'll be out of your incredibly messy hair." Sammuel scoffed at that and got back to his feet. "Ok Pinkie Pie, I'd like to see you try brushing your hair with a rotting arm. Would you rather smooth hair and a missing arm, or just keep the messy hair?" Franklin let out a quiet noise that sounded a little like a balloon deflating before sitting upright, steadying his head as it awkwardly jerked forward. "It's fine, it's fine! Always so argumentative, aren't you? I'm well aware I look a mess, I won't take offense to the kid pointing that out!" His voice sounded happy and strained, almost like he was trying to hold back a scream.
Franklin gritted his teeth in a forced smile and twisted his body to face 3 and Elias. "Besides, it was just a simple but clever play on words! I like that!" 3 finally understood why his movements and voice sounded strained and couldn't help but feel a little bad for his previous statement. The man was in agony. His body was rotting away and yet his nerves were in good enough condition for him to feel all of it. 3 nodded to him and smiled awkwardly. "Yeah yeah.. I didn't mean anything by it, sorry." Elias raised his eyebrow and laughed. "Don't apologise, it's true, he's a sight for sore eyes. Anyway-" He held out the paper to 3 and gave a charming smile. "Here's all the info I've got. Think it might by linked to the various old people vanishing recently, I'll leave you to look through it properly with the others." 3 felt relieved and nodded, glad he could finally leave. Franklin's aura felt odd and despite his smile and constant reassurance that he didn't care for the jab at his hair, his eyes held back nothing but pure hatred. Like a wild animal glaring at someone it considered a rival.
"Thanks! Uh- sorry for intruding, I'll leave now." He nodded to the three men and backed up towards the door. Franklin only smiled and watched him leave whereas Sammuel, once again, didn't utter a word. Elias glanced at the other two before smiling at 3. "Sorry about Sammuel by the way, he's an asshole to everyone. Safe travels, I'll see you around." He waved to 3 as the young demon quickly left the building, walking down the path and back onto the street, ignoring how the thistles scratched at his skin. Almost gagging at the feeling in his stomach, he took a deep breath and glanced behind him. The aura in that house was wrong and he wasn't sure how he hadn't noticed when entering. But he had the information he needed so it hardly mattered anymore, the mission was a success.
