Tara had never been more jealous.
Not only was Amber technically "on a date" tonight, but her friends were encouraging it!

Parker Lawrence was beautiful and bold.
And the complete opposite of Tara.
Someone who wouldn't be intimidated by Amber.
Someone who would challenge her.

And Tara knew Amber loved a challenge.

Tonight was now or never.
Because Tara couldn't stand the thought of having to watch Amber and Parker together.

Standing in front of Amber's front door, Tara took a deep breath in.

Now or never.

She called to Amber as she entered the front door.

"Amber? I know you said 9:30 but my mom just..." Tara cut herself off as she walked into the kitchen.

She immediately stopped when she spotted Parker.

She hadn't expected Parker to be here so early.
Had Amber invited her to come early?
Had she shown up on her own?
Tara definitely wouldn't be able to talk to Amber alone now.

"Oh...hey Parker," Tara offered awkwardly.

Parker gave her a small wave as she threw her shot back.

Amber looked to Tara, "Everything okay with your mom? What happened?"

Tara shook her head quickly.

"Nothing. She's just being annoying, I had to escape," she replied forcing a small laugh.

Amber looked between the two girls, unsure of how to play the situation.
Tara hated that she was causing Amber any distress.
But she didn't know how to make it less awkward.

Luckily, Parker offered her bottle to Tara, who eagerly agreed to start drinking.

Getting drunk was Tara's only option to escape this nightmare.
