the sun was out. (burning his ass off) birds were chirping. (for the demons of hell or something) students were bustling. (with nasty sweat)
and alter wanted to fucking die. metaphorically, of course. although, with each new project his demonic professors kept stacking atop of one another, the metaphorically may turn into literally. (it was summer too! like what the hell man? he loved school, but he didn't love it that much)
the boy sighed, squeezing his eyes shut as he felt the dull burn behind his pupils. he's been staring at this damn essay for way too long. did he even add anything new in the last half hour? oh, now that wasn't good. he was starting to lose his sense of time (and consciousness). that really wasn't good.
okay, welp. it was time to get up and do something productive instead of hunching over his laptop and questioning the creation of the world, or something. were cavemen and dinosaurs friendly alliances at the dawning beginning of humanity?
he dropped his head onto the table, hissing at the burning contact of the metal. firstly, ow. that really hurt like a son of a bitch. how the hell did his arms not melt off yet? and secondly, he definitely spaced out. not for the first time this afternoon, probably. woops.
groaning, he pulled himself up. he felt his bones pop as he rolled his shoulders backwards. at this rate, he'll be obtaining chronic back problems before he even has the chance to graduate from university. he frowned. that was definitely an unnecessary thought.
instinctively running his fingers through tangled locks, alter whipped out his phone. the reflection of his appearance was, well, less than ideal to put it lightly. if any of his friends were around, they'd definitely be rattling his ears off about his bad habits and as much as he loves them, really, he wouldn't hesitate even for a second to throw a few punches around at the moment.
aaaanyways, damn, did he look like he was about to wither away or disintegrate. probably both. is it possible for the two processes to occur against a singular object at aligning times? perhaps he should do some research, perhaps an experiment...
"alter sunbae-nim!"
ahem. suddenly dragged away from his very riveting thoughts, a disheartened expression masked his features. he will be returning to that provoking wonder.
"hm?" he hummed impartially, gazing away from the ghostly appearance of himself splayed across his powered off device.
recognizing one of his beloved juniors, alter's eyes crinkled in delight. "oh, hye-hil." after gently (definitely, extremely gently) slamming the top of his laptop shut, he gave the younger girl his full focus. thin lips broadened into a wide smile as she approached his table.
"sunbae-nim!" hye-hil perked, eyes wide and bright despite her shortened breaths and slight panting. she was apparently in quite the hurry to find him.
fondness sunk into his bones, his hands reaching for her blue locks and giving them a playful tussle. "hi, you're excited today," he mused.
frankly speaking, she was always running high on energy, and that was no exaggeration, but alter there was a slight difference at the present moment. "what's the special occasion?"
huffing, hye-hil crossed her arms, glaring at him with narrow eyes. "what do you mean 'what's the special occasion,' did you really forget, sunbae-nim?" she pauses, taking a once over at his current deadlike thunder. "also, why do you look like.. that?"
the two stared at each other, a damp silence brooching over their greetings. right. ignorance is bliss. alter, instead, merely grins and shrugs his shoulder before wagging his index finger in front of her nose playfully. "don't try playing tricks on me, missy. i know all your tactics considering i was the one who taught you. i know there's nothing special going on today. don't try to fool me."
