ADLEY
"I honestly don't know what they all see in him" I groan, walking past the array of girls lined up to get a glimpse of their fantasy man. "They must know he isn't going to date any of them, right?"
"But they all believe they'll be the one to change him" Oxland, my best friend of 15 years sasses beside me.
"And to be dressed like that, I mean, they aren't leaving much to the imagination" I tease, glancing at their barely covered legs and torso's. Mind you, it's also been one of the coolest days Europe has ever recorded in a July month, I'm rugged up in triple layers, and these girls have their midriffs out.
Oxland scoffs beside me, mumbling something under her breath.
"Sorry" I apologise, knowing that Oxland too had been one of Charles past conquests.
"It's fine, that's so old news" she rolls her eyes, as I tuck my arm into hers as we make out into the McLaren garage. "Plus, not everyone gets to have a "Lee" in their life" she mocks, bumping into my shoulder.
The very mention of his name causes me to blush and also prompts me to check my phone.
I met Lee on this dating app a few weeks ago, and he was every definition of perfect. He lives in Monaco and we had plans to meet for the first time whilst we are there with the Formula 1.
"There's trouble if I ever laid eyes on it" Lando teases as soon as we walk through the doors.
Oxland flips him off before he embraces her in a hug, offering the same to me.
"Come to check out all the talent?" he boasts, pulling gently on the collar of his hoodie.
"If by talent, you mean watching you just creep into the points, then sure" Oxland shrugs in sarcasm.
"How are you feeling about today?" I ask, crossing my arms in front of me.
"Yeah, excited. Should be a good race" he responds. "And what the bloody hell are you wearing?" He asks, his eyes darting down the entirety of my body.
I look down at my attire. "It's a tracksuit?" I defend, sounding more like I'm questioning it.
"It's connected" he informs, pulling at my mid section.
I swat his hand away, "It's meant to be, you jerk"
"You look like you're about to hit the ski fields" he further teases.
"Moving right along" Oxland encourages, sending an evil glare in Lando's direction.
"Are you watching from in here or are you going up to the club house?" He asks, pointing to the roof of the garage, "but seriously Adley, you need to start dressing more like her" he points toward Oxland.
Although she isn't dressed for the weather, at least she's covered somewhat up in her skin tight jeans, bare middle, cropped camisole and cropped hoodie.
"Thank you?" She appreciates in a question.
"Welcome" he sends her a condensing wink.
"Okay enough about this" I hold my hands up in defence, tugging on the opening of my puffer jacket, pulling it tighter around my body.
"Upstairs" Oxland answers. "We better get going" she instructs.
On our way out, I send a quick text message to Lee, asking about his day. Lee was at university studying law, and it was said he was going to one of the top firms in London to complete his professional years.
- Counting down the days until we get to meet. What are you up to today? - Adley
His response comes back immediately and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
- Cant wait. It's going to feel surreal. Nothing too much. Just a relaxing day before another big week. What about you? - Lee
As we exit out the back of the garage into a sea of people, fans from several teams all rush to get a glimpse of their favourite drivers, and when the high pitch squeals come from the far right, you can bet your last dollar who just walked in.
"He's just the hottest thing since... I don't even know" gushes one fan
"It's like the gods personally designed him from gold" another one squeals.
"I heard, that his, you know what, is so big that..."
Okay that's enough.
I begin to reply back to Lee whilst following Oxland toward the steps to lead us to the balcony, when I come crashing into a figure, my hands having to stop myself from barrelling over.
"Oh dammit" I curse.
"If you wanted to touch me, you could have just asked" the voice mocks from above.
Glancing up, I feel almost disgusted in his cockiness, although it should have been expected.
"Trust me, I didn't" I scowl.
"Where's the hot friend of yours?" He asks, making a point to duck his head past me.
"No longer interested in you, Charles" I mock, holding my head up high.
He smirks and shrugs, holding his confidence strong, "She'd come if I commanded"
My eyes roll voluntarily. "You speak of woman like they are pieces of meat" I hiss.
He tightens his lips and shakes his head, "I'm actually vegetarian" he announces, holding his hand against his heart in some weird school boy honour.
"You're revolting" I boast.
A group of girls let out a high pitch squeal beside us, calling for his attention.
"I best tend to them" he tilts his head. "Always a pleasure Adley, nice... outfit" he mocks, his eyes glancing down before he pushes his sunglasses further up his nose, turning to pose for another hundred pictures.
I let out a scoff before jogging up the stairs after Oxland. Glancing back over my shoulder when I reach the top, Charles is looking up in my direction with a cocky smirk all over his face.
I shake my head dramatically at him, making a point for him to see the disgust on my face before turning around and joining Oxland on the edge of the balcony, over looking the pit lane.
