When I next woke up, it was to a car door slamming. I cracked my eyes open, and half heartedly looked around. The car was parked in front of the Black Veil Brides tour bus. Andy walked around the car to my side and opened my door. He reached in and unbuckled me, thinking I was still asleep. He then carefully lifted me out of the car and walked with me to the door. Before he could knock though, Ashley answered the door.
Ashley spoke quietly, so he wouldn't wake me. "Hey Andy. Man, she looks awful. I hope she will be okay."
"She should be.. It just looks like some severe bruising.."
"The doctor got here about 10 minutes ago, he's inside. Bring her in and set her on the couch."
Andy climbed the stairs and stepped inside and over to the couch. He laid me down on it with some pillows propping up my head. After that, he gently began to shake me awake.
"Kat.. Kat, hey. Wake up." I exhaled deeply and lazily opened my eyes, looking around. Ashley and Andy were by my head, staring at me, and the rest of the guys were at my feet. Compared to the guys, the doctor looked like a midget.
"Will you please sit up Ms. Heart?" I pushed myself up, wincing at the pain in my stomach. I was then asked to lift my shirt so he could see my bruises. I hesitated a moment, not crazy about a strange man seeing my stomach. Not only would he see bruises, he would see my ribs protruding, and it would instantly become clear that I was anorexic. My quick solution was to lift my shirt, but not above my ribs.
"Ms. Heart, if you want a proper examination, I will need you to lift up your shirt a little farther."Andy leaned down and whispered in my ear:
"It's okay, Kat." I bit my lip and lifted my shirt above my ribs; a collective gasp arose from the group.
"Ms. Heart, how often do you eat?"
"I don't know.. a small dinner every other day.." He nodded and continued to prod around my body with his icy hands. After about thirty minutes, he had checked my eye, face, throat, and mouth. He declared I had no internal bleeding, and my throat was just swollen, which should go down in a week or so. Until then, I just had to take it easy with the talking, and reduce my movement. Just in case though, he gave Andy a bottle of painkillers for me to take with a meal three times a day.
As the doctor was leaving, Ashley walked in with my suitcase and put it under a desk. Andy handed me a glass of water and two of the pills to take. I swallowed them with minimal struggle, then downed the rest of the water. Jake took the glass from me and I settled in on the couch, joining the rest of the guys in their TV world.
After about an hour, I began to feel drowsy. During a commercial, I closed my eyes and never woke up. But I could feel Andy carry me to his bunk and gently set me in it. He covered me with a blanket and shut the curtain, then went back to watch TV with the guys. I was drifting in and out of an uncomfortable sleep, and listening to the murmur of the voices outside of the bunk. Eventually, my mind finally settled, and I slipped into a dreamless sleep.
