Cross took off his coat, followed by his shirt. Nightmare was holding what appeared to be waterproof bandages. He unrapped Cross's old ones, and once finished, he started putting on the new ones. Cross winced in a pain as Nightmare did so around his ribs. "Maybe if you didn't jump off a cliff with sharp rocks, we wouldn't be here." Cross looked at Nightmare through his bubble of air. "Why are you looking at me like that. I didn't tell you to do that. We didn't know eachother then."

Cross rolled his eyes. "You don't have to bring it up so often." It was around the fith time Nightmare has brought it up, Cross had been there for one night, that he was awake, according to Nightmare Cross has been there for at least a week. Nightmare cut the bandage and kicked back for Cross to stand and put on his shirt and coat. "Thank you..." He said. "My lord." Cross wasn't used to having a higher up.

Nightmare swam away towards the hall where Killer watched Cross. When Nightmare left, Cross started to go towards the hall when Killer swam into the makeshift hospital and put up the driftwood. Killer didn't move from the door, making sure no one came in, or more likly, so Cross doesn't get out. "What do you want, Killer?"

"You have a weapon." He noted. "Why don't you fire it?" Cross looked at his gun and pocket full of knives. "It's just weird, knowing surface dwellers and evil and wouldn't hesitate to kill us, yet you have all the chances, and it doesn't seem to even cross your mind!" Killer explained. "So WHY! Why are you not killing us? Do you want to show us alive to your friends or something like that!"

Cross thought about it. He never consittered them to scard of him like this. "I guess it's because I only kill those who oppose me." Cross said. "You hate me for some reason. But that doesn't mean you oppose me." He explained to the merman. It was hard to put his thoughts into words, but then he thought about a story he heard. "However surface dwellers say that you guys kill us for sport. Maybe instead I should be scared of you? After all, my gun is out of bullets, and I can't throw my knives properly down here. I also can't see anything at all, it's too dark for me."

Killer moved closer to Cross, leaving the door. "You can't see?" He repeated. Cross was only able to see his target and the low glow it gave off around him. "Don't you guys also have magic?" He asked. "Surely you have it too, right?"

"Yeah." Cross said. "But not everyone can do it. And even then, you can only learn one kind. Combat. Change. Or practical." Cross said, looking away from the target. "I don't have any of those. most people think I do have combat magic, however, because I'm Captian Cross, the strongest pirate out there." Killer whispered something that Cross didn't hear, but only a moment later, he could see like it was day on the surface. "What the-"

"Seeing spell. It helps mermaids to see in the dark. It lasts until the caster takes it back or dies." Killer explained. "It also only works in water." Killer gave a warm smile. Cross retunded it. "I shouldn't be mad at you, but it's hard not to. So until I can get past my prejudice for surface dwellers, accept the gift of sight." He looked away. "Everyone deserves to see." He said , but before opening the door, he said. "But if you even look at them the wrong way. Your sight will be taken away." He moved the driftwood and left.

Cross pulled out his gun and read the inscription: 'To the best Captain, Captain Cross -Epic and Fresh.' "How can I be the best captain when I left you guys? I'm a coward." Cross said. "A stupid selfish coward." Cross walked out, putting his gun away. "And a liar to everyone around me."

Horror and Dust were teaching Cross what to do with his arms to swim. Something every inportant, and all they could do because only Cross had legs. The movements were easy, but then to test if it helped Cross took off his boots and started going around. I kicked both his legs at the same time, seeing that's how the mermen did.
