POV: Oliver

I head out of the motel building and down the block to my favorite restaurant; Zupaz. I get a couple weird looks but at least it's not due to my scar.

I turn the corner and wait at the cross walk. Looking out into the intersection as cars speed by. It's getting a little windy. It's probably going to rain soon..
A mother and a little girl stand and wait next to me. The girl is holding her mothers hand and a teddy bear.
I glance at the two and the child looks up at me and is about to say something when her mother pulls her to the side and steps away from me.
"Mommy why is the guy wearing that?" The little girl asks.
"I don't know, sweetie..." the mother replies in a nervous tone as she picks up the girl.
"Hey, Mister? Why?" The girl yells while she points at my mask.
I look at her and wave awkwardly...
"It's uh a Halloween costume?" I say.
"Scary..." she says as she looks at her teddy bear.
The mother seems a little less tense after I reply but still holds her daughter close to her.
The light turns red and the cross walk sign lights up indicating the pedestrians turn to cross the road. I let the two girls go ahead of me and we go our separate ways.

I get to the restaurant. As I walk in the sweet doughy aroma hits me, I'm the only customer at this time and walk straight to the counter and order my usual soup and sandwich. I watch the employee make the food with anticipation and place my hands in my pocket. My mouth waters as I stare intently at the food. The lady making my sandwich gives me a weird look but then smiles.
"Nice mask," she says.
I don't reply. I just want my food.
The girl hums as she makes the food and walks to the register. I follow.
"That will be... $10.00 even," she says as she tucks her green hair behind her pierced ear.
I pull a ten dollar bill from my pocket and hand it to her. As she grabs the money she place her hand over mine and makes sure to touch my -entire- hand. Fuck I hate psychical contactt. She keep eye contact and I divert my gaze, she's not really my type to be completely honest..
"Thanks.." I reply awkwardly as I take my food and find a seat near the back corner. I like corners especially because I can see everything so nobody sneaks up on me.
I take off my mask and set it gently next to my food tray and begin to dig in. A tomato basil soup with the ultimate grilled cheese. It's delicious.
My eyes light up at the food and I begin to eat. I dip my sandwich into the soup and take a few bites. God. I love this place. Thank you.
After a few minutes of me eating the girl appears again and walks to my table holding a plate. I watch her come closer and put my mask back on.
"Hey, you look lonely," the girl says as she sit across from me and sets a plate of.. cake down?
What does this lady want.. I'm just trying to enjoy my sandwich I don't need you lady please leave me alone. I cry internally.

"Here, it's on the house. We can share it if that's okay with you?" She asks.
She seems so nice. I don't want to let her down and well, cake.
"Fine.." I reply and she smiles before handing me a fork.
"I'm Jenna.." the workers introduces herself.
"Oliver," I reply quietly.
I take the cold silver for and set it on the table next to my plate before sitting back on the bench with a sigh.
"Aren't you gonna eat any? Or do you not want me to see your face?" She asks as she tilts her head. I've gotta admit, head tilting is pretty cute. "I won't judge ya," she says.

Me: "Yes you will," I sigh.

Jenna: "I swear I won't... unless you're like super ugly or something..."

With a sigh I decide to take my mask off. I undo the straps and set it on the table next to me. The girl stares at me and her eyes widen as she sees my ugly scar.
I roll my eyes and grab the fork before taking a bite of the cake, not caring enough about her to see what she thinks.
"Oh.. wow I-.." she tries to think of something to say.
"It's okay... you don't have to like me," I respond as I stare out of the window, rain now beginning to fall lightly, covering the sidewalk in little sprinkles.
"I should probably leave," I say as I stand, grabbing my face covering. "I have some stuff I need
to do.." I move the mask to my face and clip it in place.
"I'm... sorry." Is all Jenna can manage.
"It's fine I'm used to it," I reply before walking away and exiting the restaurant.
I fucking hate my life.
I look at the time. It's almost 10:00pm so I should probably head back to the motel and get ready for that meeting.
I begin the short walk back to my quarters.
Rain is now pouring, soaking my jacket. Angsty.
As I get back to the crappy motel I run up the creaky metal stairs and under the awning. I fumble in my pockets and grab my keys.
I enter the warm room. Ah, home at last.

Everything is right by where I left it. I close and lock the door behind me and take off my wet clothes. Suddenly I hear a voice.
"Hello, O!" The voice sounds cheery, familiar.
I quickly grab my gun and point it towards where the voice came from an slowly reach for the lights. As I flick them on a figure appears sitting on my bed ... it's a man. Mid to late 40s and dressed well. I recognize him immediately as my client but regardless I keep my guard up.
"What the hell?" I respond.
"Ah, sorry for the intrusion! I just thought that since it was raining we could just meet indoors at your ... place," he says with a disgusted tone as he glance around at the room, "indoors.. I hope that's okay with you, O."
"How did you find me?" I keep my gun pointed at him.
"I have my sources," Richard responds simply.
"Do your 'sources' want me dead?" I ask.
"No, not yet that is.." he says with a smile. "But don't worry, I came alone as we discussed and I am ready to talk about the details of your job. If you put the gun down immediately."
I slowly lower my gun and stuff it back into my holster.

I walk a little closer to get a better look at the man. He's older and has a gray mustache and gray hair and looks rather tired.
I sit on the floor across from him and watch carefully.
"So," he begins. "You will be body guarding my daughter, Olivia as well as her band-mates. Understand?"

Me: I nod. "How much will you be paying me?

Richard: "Hm... how about $50 per hour during the day and $75 per hour at night as well as a $3k bonus for each concert you attend with them?"

Me: I scoff slightly. "Make it $100 in the day and $150 at night with a $4k benefit at concerts."

Richard: "$85 during the day and $100 at night with $3.5k extra at concerts. Final offer."

Me: "Fine, that will work."

Richard: "You will start tomorrow."

Tomorrow?? What the hell I mean I can do it but isn't that a little soon?

Me: "Where?"

Richard: "I'll have someone pick you up, it will likely be out of state."

Me: "Be more specific."

Richard: "Probably some where in Utah or Nevada since her first concert is in SLC and second is in Las Vegas."

Me: "Okay. And if any funny business starts happening... I'll kill your daughter."

Richard: "Understood." He says through his teeth. He really didn't like that I said that.

I smile a little, knowing what pisses him off can be helpful for the future.

After an hour of talking with him about the more fine details such as sleeping, food and rules Richard heads out as the rain slowly comes to a stop.

Richard: "I trust you will take care of Olivia."

Me: "..Yeah"

And with that he left leaving me to pack for tomorrows adventures.
