The moon's glow casts a silvery light over Regulus' bed, creeping in through a rip in his curtain.
fucking Evan
Evan and Barty had caused said rip a couple of days ago, when they decided that play fighting on Regulus' bed was a good idea.
Why couldn't they fight on their beds?
Evan and Barty are in 7th year, one year above Regulus, but Regulus ended up sharing a room with them as his mother had allowed him to name three students he wanted as roommates. She then insisted that Regulus share a dorm with those three students he named, whether Dumbledore agreed due to fear or lack of care he didn't know. Walburga had only let Regulus choose three students who came from families that supported the dark lord, of course. Sometimes, Regulus loves the privileges he earns from coming from such a powerful family background.
Regulus huffed and rolled over for what felt like the hundredth time tonight. He was struggling to sleep, which wasn't unusual for Regulus. However, the lack of sleep over the past few weeks is starting to catch up to him. And that just wouldn't do. Fatigue and drowsiness had no place in Regulus' life. He couldn't afford to not be at his best health for what was to come.
Regulus closed his eyes and focused on the rhythmic howls of a distant wolf. He loved full moon nights for this reason. The howls filled in the silence that would usually corrupt his mind with bad memories. Eventually, after some time, Regulus managed to drift off to sleep and didn't wake until early morning.

A warm breeze floating over his face sturred James awake. He could distinctly smell a strong aroma of spearmint. James' eyes fluttered open, and to his surprise, a pair of grey-blue eyes stared right back at him. James sat up quickly, startled by this sudden awakening, causing him to crash heads with Sirius.
"What the hell, Padfoot!" James shouted, groaning and rubbing his head with the palm of his hand.
"I was only fooling around with you, Prongs!" Sirius exclaims, mirroring the same rubbing motion across his head with a grimace spread on his face. "No need to give me a concussion!"
James chuckles and shoves him backwards. This earns him an exaggerated gasp as Sirius lifts his hand to his heart like it's just broken into a million shards. James watches the smirk creep up on Sirius' face. He has such a bad poker face.
"What the hell is going on in here?" Remus asks, emerging from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist and his hair still dripping wet. Sirius' eyes lock on him, and he fails to answer until James pulls him out of whatever thoughts he was lost in.
"Padfoot here decided to wake me up by breathing over me like a psychopath!"
"he's lying," Sirius says matter-of-factly, pointing a finger in James' direction.
"mmh," Remus mumbles, obviously unconvinced. James swears he catches Sirius winking at him in response, but his vision is still blurred from sleeping, so he could be wrong. "I can't deal with this the morning after a full moon," he whines, rubbing his head and hobbling over to his bed, letting himself sink into his mattress.
"sorry moony" Sirius goes over and kisses him on the forehead, James watches Remus' eyes widen in terror, but he doesn't protest.
"Come on, Padfoot, we are going to be late."
James hurriedly gets ready and meets Peter, Lily, and Mary in the Gryffindor common room so they can all walk to the Great Hall together for breakfast. James loves breakfast. It gives him time to fully wake up and natter with all his friends before class. He also adores the looks he gets from girls as he walks down the hall, whispers and giggles, and fluttering eyes. Both he and Sirius constantly bask in the admiration they get from not only thirsty girls but everyone who looks up to them. They are both from two very powerful and rich families and are viewed as some of the coolest students due to the insane pranks they, Remus and Peter used to pull in 5th year.
