"...It's a girl."

At that moment Natasha felt her heart sink in her stomach, her heart beating in her throat as her nails dug through the soft cotton of her joggers.

No.

~Redroom Academy, somewhere in Russia-20//~

Screams racked the halls, loud and vocal. Crass words in Russian echoed behind the horrifying shouts. Cut out by sobbing, and muttered words that can't be made out.

In nothing but a small room, the only light is the moonlight from the bared windows that created a silvery rug on the cold concrete floor. Sat a woman, who looked anything but heavily pregnant, sweat coating her forehead and sticking the starlike red locks together.

It seemed like days, and the pain carried on. Anything but this. Natalia couldn't fathom why she was one out of seven widows chosen for this. Sure she was the best they have, they needed her so why did it feel like they were trying to kill her?

Even her thoughts were cut out by her screams, as pain wavered through her body. Her voice is raspy, her throat dries as they're given her nothing in the past few hours. Shoved her into a cell, not caring about anything then asking her to do this alone not even knowing what was happening to her own body.

The young woman felt ready to die at this point, it was too much for her to handle. Something In her clicked as she carried on. Her helpless sobs were finally cut off by the wait for what sounded like to be a baby.

Her baby.

Looking down, tilted her head in curiosity at the small thing. Arms and legs flailing as its tiny body made these horrible sounds. Natalia didn't want to risk picking it up seeing as her hands were shaking too much.

Taking a deep breath as she lent against the cool bricks of the old cell, the air was musky due to the stale nature of the surroundings. The only soothing thing was the soft breeze of the weather outside that brushed against her sweat-covered skin.

Running a finger of the baby's face, analysing the velvety skin, flush against her finger. Oddly enough to Natalia the baby had ceased its squirming as it felt her touch ran feather-light down its cheek.

It was so delicate, dangerously so. The frail skin showed the blues of the veins behind the blood that muddied its body. Something tugged against her heartstrings as she picked up the baby, holding it in a way that would have caused mothers to shout obscenities at her as she watched as it scrunched in on itself.

Bringing it closer to her chest, hesitantly, the baby itself seemed to draw itself into her. Gaining from the warmth of her chilled skin.

These moments passed without much thought, the silence was peaceful. The only noise is the random snuffles that the baby would make, instinctively making Natalia bring it closer to her more than she could.

Her baby.

Of course, nothing good is worthwhile in here the metal door creaked open as the Doctors stepped into the room. Bright white coast, donning the blue masks which fuelled her dreams. Standing out in the darkness like angels, except they are nothing close to angels themselves.
