"Ew, Cesar." Marianna voiced as her and Jamal approached the boy. "You look like shit."
"Yeah." Jamal agrees. "You look fried."
"Couldn't sleep last night." He explains, taking slight offense to their observations.
"I'd seriously consider Tempur-Pedicure pillows. Changed my life." Jamal responds.
"I think this goes deeper than pillows, J." Marianna sighs, pressing her lips into a thin line as her hand clasps onto his shoulder.
"Oh." He nods, looking at the ground. "Well, memory foam mattresses are good too."
"Jamal." Marianna rolls her eyes. "What's going on, Cesar?"
"Just some shit. It's nothing." He tells the girl.
"Is it drugs?" The frantic freshman questions. "You slinging? You... stole a car? Held up a liquor store? A drug store? A corner store?"
"No store." Cesar tells him.
"Home invasion? Assault? Assault with a deadly weapon?" Jamal continues to questions before asking loudly, "Oh, my God, they made you kill someone, didn't they!?"
"Shh!" Cesar and Marianna shush him as people turn to look at the trio.
"I really hope for your sake, it wasn't a white person." Jamal comments.
"I hope it was no person, the fuck?" Marianna rolls her eyes.
"I didn't kill anyone." Cesar announces, annoyance dripping from his tone. "I kissed Olivia."
"What!?" Jamal and Marianna exclaim. "You kissed Olivia?"
"No, no, no, no, no." Marianna repeats. "I have to tell Ruby."
"Mari, no!" Cesar exclaims, grabbing the girl. "You can't tell him. Please?"
"He's my brother, Cesar! And he's literally in love with her." She glares at him.
"I know! But... there's no reason to hurt him because it was a one time thing." He tries to negotiate.
"I'm still telling him." She tries to walk away, but Cesar keeps a tight grip on her.
"Why?" He asks, folding his arms over his chest. "To clear your conscious? You're gonna tell him for legit no reason because Olivia and I aren't a thing and never will be. It was the heat of the moment kinda thing."
"Heat of what moment!?" She exclaims. "Ruby has been in love with that girl since the second she got her, estúpido!" stupid.
"It just kind of happened. Marianna, please." He begs. "I'll even tell him myself."
Marianna sucks in a deep breath before rolling her eyes. "Fine. Whatever. But if this somehow gets out in the open before you can tell him, I never knew."
