I sighed as I stood next to the bar smoking a cigarette before putting it out. I picked up my skateboard and walked around back. I walked into the back to see my friend Mel racing to the cooler room.

She saw me, "Oh my god! Thank god you're here! I'm slammed right now and I ran out of beer. Will you go make drinks while I grab more." she said. I nodded and clocked in before walking to the bar. Tons of people stood at the bar.

I walked up to a man who was very angry. "How can I help you?" I asked him. "I want my damn beer!" He yelled. "My friend will come back with that." I said walking over to the next person. "How can I help you?" I asked the man. He looked about my age and had long curly brown hair.

"Oh I ordered a bunch of beers for me and my friends. I'm just waiting." He said very calmly. I smiled, "She will be right back with those." I said before walking off again. I went to the next person and asked the same thing.

"I'll take a Manhattan neat." The lady said. I nodded and grabbed a glass to start making it, "I want a Bean on the rocks!" another person yelled at me. I nodded and pulled out another glass as I stirred the Manhattan. I handed the lady her drink as I began to pour this man a glass of Bean.

I got through about another 2 people before Mel came back with a couple big cases of beer. I walked over to the not so angry guy who was waiting, "What kind of beer did you order sir?" I asked, gaining his attention. "5 Heineken's." He said, smiling at me. He had a beautiful smile.

I nodded and grabbed his beers. "Thank you." he said, putting a twenty down. "Keep the change," he said walking away. "Are you sure?" I yelled out to him. Apparently he didnt hear me. I put the twenty in the cash register and took out $11. That was what he left me.

Mel had gotten four of the others who had ordered beer. I let Mel handle the beer as I made cocktails and drinks. After about ten minutes the bar died down to an old man sitting in one of the seats and a few people coming over to order. I sighed and picked up the towel I had in the back of my jean pockets.

"Isn't your shift over?" I asked Mel. "Yeah but I was gonna stay here to watch the next band. I heard they were amazing." Mel said. I nodded and made the old man another drink. "Here's your Jack neat sir." I said, smiling at him. "Thank you young lady." He slightly slurred. "Do you want me to call you a cab? I just don't want you getting hurt sir." I said.

He seemed drunk, "Actually that would be nice. After this drink." He said, picking up the drink. I nodded and went to the phone behind the bar. "Mel watch the bar for me really quick. I'm going to call this old man a cab." I said dialing the number. "Seattle cab co." a man answered. "Hi, I'd like to get a cab. I'm at the skid row bar on Fifth and Jefferson." I said.

"I'm sending a cab your way now. Should be about 6 minutes." The man said I thanked him and hung up. I waited for a couple minutes before helping the old man outside. The cab sat in front of the building. "Where to?" The man asked. The old man said his address. It wasn't too far.

I gave the old man the $11 dollars from the nice man earlier. "You are such a kind young lady. Thank you ma'am." the old man said. "My pleasure. Be safe." I said shutting his door. I walked back inside and the band had just started playing.
