A light knock on my door brought me into the reality. I slowly lifted my gaze towards the heavenly rays of sun falling in my room entering through my window. My vision stopped to look at the documents of work laying on my study looking at me as if they are not going to be worked upon by me anytime soon. And it was true. Last night I dozed off while studying on the new agreements presented by the investors in the Sharma Enterprises. Although I started working 3 months back but I had pretty much idea about the relations that the firm had with their investors and how well we treat them.
Another knock and I was up. I lazily climbed out of the bed and opened the wooden door and saw the cheerful smile of my aunt wishing me good morning and beside her stood the stylist and the staff that were going to make me ready today for my wedding.
Yeah you heard it right. Today was my wedding day.
"Don't tell me you were working till late on those files!!" My aunt spoke and I smiled shyly.
"Kaynat I want you to be happy and for a happily married life you have to give time to your new life also. I know work is important for you but for adjusting in your soon to be family you need to pay attention to them also."
I understood the meaning of her lines and honestly I saw this coming very early on. I was not interested even in the idea of marriage but here I was going to give into an arranged marriage for the whole of my life.
"I know maasi and I will take care from next time." I said and she smiled and hugged me.
"Now I want you to sit calmly and get ready and came out as the most beautiful bride ever." She said while hugging me .
And it was difficult for me because I was not used to getting ready. I never went to parlours and spas. I didn't felt like going as I was always busy in work. But today there was no escape. I had to get ready for my wedding and look stunning and ravishing for my husband who by the way I haven't even talked to.
"Sure maasi ma." I assured her.
I never got the love of my mother as she passed away when I was a kid. Although my father remarried but I didn't have stable relations with my step mom. She didn't let me call her ma and behaved coldly with me. I was raised mostly by my maasi ma as I spent most of my childhood with her at her place. I also have a step brother aaryan. He is going to be the next heir of my father's buisness empire. My father is a very kind and generous man. He loved me beyond my imagination and I am really blessed to have father like him. Mr Sehgal was my father's childhood friend and old buisness partner also. He proposed the idea of marriage of me with his son to my father. My father asked me and I trusted him more than anything I this world. He always chooses best for me and I said yes. I never had anyone in my life and this arranged marriage was profitable to ojr buisness also as Sehgal Industries had the most investors in the country and due to this reason I agreed.
Aryan deserved to have a good career and if could help in any slightest way it was enough for me. My step mom was also happy with it as she didn't had to face me everyday anymore. My father was concerned about me and even one day before he asked me
"Kaynat my dear are you happy with this marriage beta? I mean you can tell me anything right. I won't let it continue if you are not happy. This is an arrange marriage and it could be diffi-"
I cut him off and said
" Papa you always chose the best for me. I know I will be fine with your blessings and love."
He kissed my forehead and left to his room.
I was brought back from my thoughts when the hair stylist asked
"Mam you have great hair. Can I make a bun or you have any preferences?"
"Anthing that's suitable for today will be fine "
I said and they started their work.
