TLDR: Sold off by her father, escapes that family and is found by an assassin who raises you.

================================

It was a warm sunny day, an unusual sight in Britain walking through the cobbled streets of London, poor people gathering around stalls to buy whatever they can, Some children are playing on the street while others are stealing from adults. Life is chaotic and always marching forwards. London is harsh for people with no standing or money. They live life struggling and many don't make it out of the pit that holds them back. It is a luxury for those who are born rich and stay in high society. Some manage to climb their way out and taste the life many dream of. Others settle at the bottom and make do with what they have. Life is unfair and unjust. You have lived at the bottom of the sludge pit for your whole life.

At a young age, you lived with your father and your mother unfortunately passed away not long after your birth. It never really seemed to affect you as you continued to play with your siblings. however one day your brother seemed to disappear and a few days later so did your older sister. your father was distant, drinking every night, swearing and shouting. It wasn't uncommon for you to end up with bruises and hiding away under tables or in cupboards. Every day seemed like hell but you survived and some days took it with pride, you loved your father he was the only parent you had and family you knew. You thought he loved you... he did... in his own strange way. One day showering you with gifts be it fresh bread or taking you to see parts of London you had not seen, he seemed to hold you close. You never asked about your siblings or what had happened to them and why they were gone. You only cared and lived for your father.

The day finally came, the day you were abandoned. Taking your father's hand he lead you through the alleyways, gleefully smiling to yourself at the thought of new sights to see. You never would have imagined you had been sold off to become a housemaid for some family. It was a private transaction no one else knew, crying day and night you screamed for your father but he did not hear, he was not there anymore. You found yourself alone, and the emptiness you felt inside was indescribable. It was as if a part of you had been taken away, and you couldn't help but feel a deep sense of sadness. Work was hard and the days seemed longer than before, any sort of misbehaving was a beating they did not tolerate laziness nor did they allow any sort of defiance.

~Years had passed~

Now at 15 you decided to escape this hell, no longer able to take it you wished for a new life, perhaps becoming a noble yourself, one of the wealthy, you just needed to leave. So you did, it was a bit difficult as they kept such a close eye on you however in the dead of night no one awoke nor kept watch. It was time to strike the most difficult part would be getting past the guard dogs who stayed outside. Sneaking your way outside you stepped onto the cold wet grass your bare feet feeling the sheer cold of the hard winter ground. Stepping carefully you chose your path wisely and quietly made your way to the gate, It seemed the dogs were too used to your presence to understand what you were doing, they never even bothered to move. You never ate much so you could easily fit through the bars of the large gate, a rush of adrenaline flowed through your veins as you got a taste of freedom, real freedom, it was thrilling and excited you, your feet carrying your light body as you ran down the road unsure of where to head next but at that moment nothing else mattered all you knew was freedom.

Weeks had passed and you lived on the streets but that had not done any favours as you became thinner than before which seemed almost impossible but it was. Living day to day begging for food you walked around the streets no one batting an eye or even looking towards your direction. The hunger grew more till it was just a numb feeling in the pit of your stomach, legs getting weaker making it harder to move. Lightheaded you feel sound slowly drowning out as your eyes slowly close the world going black as you collapse to the floor. 30 minutes later you wake up in a warm unfamiliar bed, the smell of gruel filling the room as you look around. A man you did not recognise sat at a small table. Turning towards you hearing the ruffle of the thin blanket he let out a smile "Well, good morning to you" the man spoke, his voice gruff but a calmness washed over as you stared bewildered and scared. "There's no need to worry, here" standing he walks over holding out a bowl of gruel, it looked grey and dull but it was food. Scoffing it down quickly he lets out a chuckle, bringing the chair closer he sat down once more and stared at your thin and frail body "Do you have a name?" slowly you nod, still cleaning out the bowl, you pause before answering "I go by Y/N" your eyes land on his face as he studies you "Well that's good to know, any family?" you shake your head in response "no...". He nods " I see. Well how about you stay with me, I can even offer you a better chance at life" he said, his tone cool and monotone. Life on the streets scared you as it was much harder than you imagined, even if he was abusive it would be nothing new, so you took your chance. "yes please..." you sheepishly say "Very well then."
