"Are you? Well, I wish I was." He exhales. Abruptly, his head jerks to the side. "Oh. Prudence wasn't sulking—they've found the mayor. I probably ought to intervene, but perhaps I'll see you after the speech. It was very nice meeting you."
You don't know what speech he means, which is becoming something of a theme for your conversation, but he's gone into the crowd before you can think of asking. Gregor has wandered off as well, so it's as good a time as any to make your way to the Garden.
