Infiltration Mission (Extra)

"I don't believe it."

"Don't believe what?"

Naruto sat at his desk, staring at the email on his computer screen. "It says here... The land of fire was awarded a metal for excellency in the art of ballroom dancing."

Shikamaru put one hand on the back of Naruto's chair, leaning over in disbelief. "They won?"

"Not only that... They weren't there to accept the award."

"But that doesn't make sense. They were there until midnight... They left with everyone else. Where could they have..." Shikamaru trailed off, a thoughtful expression on his face. 

Naruto looked up at his advisor and friend. "What. What did you figure out?? You know something don't you. Don't you?"

"Calm down! I was just thinking... Did you get to see Boruto's suit before it was washed?"

"Hm?" He put a questionative lip out. "Now that you mention it, I was there to welcome him back. He seemed like he had a bit of a dazed look in his eyes and didn't really want to talk about the ball... And the shoulder of his suit jacket seemed like he got a bit of dirt on it... But it was light colored dirt. Like sand! Maybe he got into a fight with someone. That little..."

Shikamaru laughed. "So it was like that after all..."

"Huh? Whaddya mean? Come on Shikamaru, don't leave me in the dark!"

Shikamaru clapped a hand on Naruto's shoulder as he stood to full height. "Say, Naruto. How would you feel about being Sasuke's brother in law?"

Naruto blinked. "Huh?" He looked at the door. "Eh?" He looked back at Shikamaru. "WHAAA??!!"

"I suspected it before they left... But I think they're in a secret relationship. Not too sure how they ended up getting good at ballroom dancing. But you know, it might not be a bad thing for them."

"But-! He-! I-!"

"Calm down. They're only 14. It could be temporary. No need to panic. But Naruto, it would be better to keep this a secret until they tell you about it... Don't want to destroy your bond with Boruto any further."

"Hmmm..." Naruto thought. Really hard. "I just can't imagine it... Those two getting along..."

"Ha! Sometimes opposites attract. I'm going home for the day... You should get home yourself.  Wouldn't want to worry your family."

"You got that right... See you later, Shikamaru."

But as Naruto made his way home, he folded his arms, deep in thought. "Sasuke's brother in law huh... There's no way!"

Forming a plus sign with his fingers, he made a clone. "You know what to do."

The clone saluted, a solid look in his closed blue eyes. "Yessir!"

While the clone went in the direction of his rival's house, Naruto opened the door to his own. "I'm home!"

"Papa!!"

Himawari jumped into his arms. He spun her around like usual, laughing as he set her down. "Aren't you getting a bit old for that?"

"I'm never too old for papa!" She smiled a bright smile.

"Welcome home, Naruto-kun."

Naruto returned his wife's gentle smile and then frowned. "Hm? Where's Boruto?"

"Ah, he left earlier saying he forgot to give something back to Sarada after last night. I never did ask what it was... He should be back soon."

"Hmmm..."

All at once, memories slapped into Naruto's mind. His clone's mission was finished.

Boruto on Sarada's balcony. Sarada tucked into his arms. Protectively glaring in the direction of Naruto's shadow clone. Furrowing his eyebrows. Dismissing it as nothing, and then...

Kissing her forehead before saying goodbye with a gentle and longing smile.

Naruto's blue eyes shot open in utter disbelief.

"Hm? Papa, is everything alright?"

"Haha..." He awkwardly itched the back of his neck. "Just remembered something... Hey Himawari?"

"Hm?"

"If you ever... Mmm on second thought, you're never allowed to have a boyfriend!"

"Eeh? That's not fair..." Her pout turned to confusion as she tilted her head. "But why'd you say that all of a sudden?"

"No reason..."

"Dear, is something wrong?"

"Nope! Nothing at all!! But I'm going to have a little talk with Sasuke next time I see him..."

Both Hinata and Himawari looked at each other and shrugged. Little did Boruto know, Sasuke was going to be directing murderous rage in his direction exactly one month from that day...
