Meanwhile, Jade showered again and got ready for bed. She called her father to update him, “How have things been going with the Mutt?” Logan inquired.
“He found me and insisted it was easy, but I could smell his lie. Klaus wanted to enter the apartment, but I told him no.”
“Good, you can't trust the Supernatural,” Logan advised, “How did he act?”
Jade smiled, “Like a curious puppy. A puppy with an inflated ego. He thought I would let him kiss me on our first date.”
Logan cocked his eyebrow, “So you're already dating the Mutt?”
“No, but I did let him take me to dinner, and I kissed his cheek. I wanted to laugh when I smelled the frustration coming from him,” Jade told her father with a giggle.
Logan laughed, and then became serious, “I know I don't have to tell you this, Pup, but be careful with the Mutt. The telepaths told Charles that this guy is popular in New Orlean, but not in a good way.”
“I know, Dad. I already saved him and his brother from some witches. They were no match for me.”
“I bet they weren't. Nevertheless, be careful. You know his enemies are going to target you when they find out about you.”
“I'm sure you're right, but I can handle any supernatural that comes at me.”
“Good,” Logan said, “Because if he can't, I'll kick the shit out of him.”
Jade laughed, “I know you will. Okay, Dad, I'm going to bed now. I'm pretty sure that Klaus is going to show up in the morning and I'd like to train for a bit before he shows up.”
“Alright, Pup, call me tomorrow,” Logan told his daughter.
“Of course, Dad. Goodnight,” Jade replied.
“Goodnight, Pup.”
Meanwhile, Klaus drove home in a daze. He could still feel Jade's warm lips on his cheek. Klaus smiled as he pulled into the compound. It was the first real smile that had graced his lips in a long time, but thinking of the lovely brunette gave Klaus a peace that he had never known, and that worried him a bit. Why was this woman bringing out such feelings in him? It was uncharacteristic of Klaus to feel that way toward any woman. Yes, he had been attracted to Caroline Forbes in Mystic Falls, and he wanted her for himself, but after thinking about it for a while, Klaus realized it was because she was playing hard to get and it was a challenge for him to have her. Surely once Klaus had Caroline, he would have lost interest shortly after.
But what he felt toward Jade was entirely different. After their date, Klaus realized that it wasn't only a physical attraction, it was much more, but he wasn't sure what. Klaus was confused about this overwhelming need to be with Jade. It wasn't an obsessive feeling, it was a longing he never felt before. Yes, Klaus wanted Jade in his bed, but it was so much more than that. Why? Why was this feeling so different than other women?
Klaus continued to contemplate this as he got out of his car and walked into the mansion. Klaus walked into the living room and went straight to the bar to pour himself a drink. Elijah sat on the couch, reading. His brother was so distracted, he didn't notice Elijah sitting on the couch.
Klaus took a sip of his drink and turned around. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw Elijah sitting there, staring at him.
“Jesus! You scared the bloody hell out of me, Elijah. How long have you been there?” Klaus asked.
Elijah smirked at his little brother, “I was here the whole time, Brother. You were so distracted by your thoughts, you didn't see me,” Elijah smiled and leaned forward in anticipation, “I take it your date with Miss Howlett went well?” Elijah asked.
Klaus glared at his brother, but his eyes suddenly glazed over when he thought of his evening and a genuine smile graced his lips. Klaus sighed, “It went better than I expected.”
“Did you bed her already?” Elijah asked.
Klaus glared at his brother, “No, but it was the best date I have ever had.”
Elijah stood and walked toward the bar to refill his drink. He took a sip and slipped a hand into his pocket, “What happened?”
Klaus's hand involuntarily went to his cheek, “Jade kissed me goodnight on the cheek.”
Elijah nearly spit out his drink, “That was all?”
Klaus sighed, “Funnily enough, that was more than I expected and more than enough.”
Klaus's eyes focused on Elijah, who was staring at Klaus with a disbelieving look on his face. Klaus's brow furrowed, “What is wrong with me? A simple kiss on the cheek was better than sleeping with a hundred women.”
“I do not know, Brother. Are you sure you haven't been bewitched?” Elijah asked.
“I have, but not in the way you think. I know this woman would never hurt me,” Klaus confessed to his brother.
“How do you know?”
“I don't know, it's something I feel in my heart, and whatever I have to do, Jade will be mine,” Klaus said with a glint in his eyes.
Elijah sighed, he could only hope this wasn't a mistake.
SORRY SO SHORT, BUT I THOUGHT YOU ALL WOULD PREFER SOMETHING SHORT THAN NOTHING AT ALL. I HOPE TO MAKE THE NEXT CHAPTER A BIT LONGER. WISH ME LUCK.
