The year is 2023. The wizarding community lives in peace, allowing life to unfold as it should for wizards all around the world, especially those born in British lands. Or those brought to them.
Benjamin Saunière Chevrin is a French and twenty-six-year-old International Auror. Born the year after the Dark Lord's demise, he grew up hearing stories of the Second Wizarding War. Perhaps it was his constant sense of fairness and craving for excitement - factors that explain why he was chosen for Hufflepuff, in addition to his career choice - that compelled him, while still young, to journey across the continent to study at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Unlike Benjamin, Demetria Biers Howard was forcibly taken to the United Kingdom nine years ago. She had little control over her destiny at the age of ten when her father forced her and her sister to leave California - and her entire life - behind. She, too, grew up hearing tales of the Battle of Hogwarts, but History of Magic was hardly one of Slytherin's favored subjects - if there ever was one deserving of such a title. It's almost amusing that she ended up pursuing a career as a Healer; being studious was never one of her attributes.
While the distance on the globe initially proved insufficient to keep them apart, the age difference should have been decisive in preventing their paths from crossing. Benjamin would graduate a year before Demetria entered Hogwarts. However, in his seventh year at school, Benjamin met Aria Howard, and it was his relationship with Demetria's sister that ended up bringing them nearer. Or something like that.
Now, Demetria finds herself in Paris. There aren't truly significant reasons for Benjamin to be in the city at the same time, even though he resides there, his work often takes him far from his home country for long periods of time. Perhaps fate had simply neglected to exert effort in keeping them apart, especially after the past four years when they hadn't even remembered each other's existence.
It took this slight oversight by fate - if there is such a thing - for Benjamin and Demetria to cross paths for a third time. Or perhaps it's their first encounter. And only. At least, that's what it was meant to be.
