28. My Home, is with you

~Narrator POV~

It had been a day since Mei, Bronya and Miyuki had come back to earth from the cocoon of finality. At St. Freya, everyone waited joyfully for the Herrschers who had fought for humanity to return. While many expressed their congratulations, Miyuki stood a little away from the group. She understood that many expressed their gratitude, but such a large group and all the attention was a bit too much for her. 

Although there was still a lot to do, Theresa had decided that the girls could take some time off and let the others do the rest. Mei and Bronya, however, did not miss the fact that Miyuki was silent all the time. ,,Miyuki-chan is everything okay?'' ,,Of course, why wouldn't it be?" the white-haired girl replied, looking up as she sat on the sofa in the living room. ,,You are so quiet all the time. Is something bothering you?" Mei asked worried. ,,To be honest, I don't know. We have accomplished what we set out to do. But somehow I feel like I've lost something..." she explained. ,,Miyuki Nee-san.... Is it because of Kasane?'' ,,Maybe.... During the fight, it was like I felt her presence very briefly. But that's impossible, since she disappeared once I became the Herrscher. Or it is because of something else that I had realized.''  

Mei and Bronya took a seat next to her. The rain outside created a gloomy atmosphere. ,,What did you realize?" asked Mei. Miyuki sighed and her grip on the edge of her hoodie tightened. ,,While you were all busy helping Kiana find a way to save her father, I... had a conversation with Theresa. It was about Otto. As you know, he raised me, but I still can't forgive him for what he did. Theresa agreed with me, but still she explained the reason for my conflicted feelings. Otto was the only father figure I had. This knowledge made me realize that I had lost another such figure and that before Otto,'' she explained. Unsure Bronya and Mei looked at each other. ,,I think... I unconsciously saw Himeko-sensei as a mother figure," she continued and her shoulders were shaking. ,,Miyuki-chan...'' Mei and Bronya hugged her. ,,It's okay.... Thank you guys for listening to me.'' 

,,Of course, Miyuki Nee-san is our cherished friend.'' ,,Thank you Bronya. If I'm honest, I'm a little relieved. I was so determined back then that everything would be as it was once we got Kiana back, but so many things turned out differently. At first it was hard for me to accept, because I didn't want to give up those happy times with you. But you and someone else showed me that it's not bad if something changes.'' ,,This is completely normal Miyuki-chan. I felt the same way when you and Kiana-chan disappeared after the fight at Schicksal. It seems to be even harder for you, since you found your first home here.'' Mei said sympathetically. ,,No... Not here. My home is where you are. That's why I'm sad because Kiana isn't here," Yuki admitted. 

A knock rang through the silent room as the three girls sat in a silent embrace. When the door opened, Fu Hua entered wearing a slight smile on her lips. ,,Fu Hua, did something happen?" asked Mei. ,,No. On the contrary, an unexpected surprise occurred," Fu Hua answered and stepped aside from the door. ,,Hey guys, did you miss me?''

,,Kiana?!''

Shocked, Mei, Bronya and Miyuki were still sitting on the sofa looking at Kiana. ,,How... Why...'' the girls mumbled. ,,You told me to come home quickly, didn't you?'' ,,Yes, but we didn't expect it to happen so quickly. How did you manage to do that and what about the Honkai energy?" asked Miyuki, who was the first to find her voice again. But Mei was the first to move and take Kiana in her arms. ,,Welcome home, Kiana-chan.'' ,,Hmm... It's a complicated story, but it has to do with you anyway,'' Kiana replied. ,,With me? But I didn't do anything.'' ,,I know. Better said someone did you this favor.'' ,,Okay.... And who?'' ,,I'll tell you right now. Just try to stay calm, okay?'' Miyuki nodded nervous.
