4. Starfall

~Miyuki POV~

The voice had not lied, it had told me the routes where the fewest guards were running around. What was more difficult, however, was to make it to the elevator unnoticed. ,,Stay calm. You can do it," the voice said soothingly. I took a deep breath and nodded. ,,You're right. I can do it, I won't leave Kiana alone," I murmured. When I finally made it into the elevator and went downstairs. I nervously walked back and forth. ,,I hope I'll get there in time,'' I muttered. The elevator had barely come to a stop when I sprinted out and ran down the dark corridors. My grip on my pistols tightened. If anything happened to Kiana, these people would not get away. Suddenly I stopped when I heard a painful scream. ,,Kiana!" I said, shocked, and started running again.

The closer I came to the room from which Kiana's scream sounded, the louder the machine noises became. I was already imagining the worst things in my head, but when I arrived, Kiana was standing in front of me, completely normal. No... she seemed to have broken out of the strange tank, I saw the broken glass on the floor next to Kiana. Before I could say anything, alarms went off. ,,Kiana, what happened?" I asked and got ready to fight. ,,Miyuki? What are you...? Never mind, I'll explain later, we have to get out of here," Kiana replied. I nodded and we both stood back to back.

,,I guess we are dealing with failed experiments as monsters,'' I said and killed a monster. ,,If Heliopolis succeeds with their experiment, they won't be the only monsters," Kiana replied. ,,What do you mean?" I asked, confused. ,,They plan to unleash concentrated honkai energy on the city,'' Kiana explained. ,,But if they do that....'' I muttered, thinking about the consequences. ,,We have to stop them!" I said determined. Suddenly a big monster appeared after we finished off the weaker ones. ,,Great...'' I muttered. Kiana and I glanced at each other and nodded before rushing towards the monster.

Because I attracted the monster's attention, Kiana was able to do good damage to the Honkai beast. But I noticed that Kiana was not quite as fit as before we parted. ,,Kiana let's swap," I called and she nodded. I switched to my special bullets, which had a paralyzed effect. I aimed at the body of the beast and at the head before shooting with both pistols. As soon as the beast was immobilized, we finished it off. I noticed that Kiana was breathing heavily and I stood next to her in case something happened. Soothingly I rubbed her back. ,,Don't worry, for now we should have peace from the monsters,'' I said. Kiana nodded with a slight smile.

Suddenly there was an explosion by the large doors on the other side of the room. Apparently I had come in through an emergency exit. I quickly had my pistols in hand and aimed into the darkness that lay behind the doors. But out of the shadows stepped a person neither Kiana nor I had expected. ,,Kiana-chan.... Miyuki-chan..." said a shocked Mei. Also shocked, I looked at Kiana, who was staring speechlessly at Mei. ,,Mei-senpai... What are you doing here? You... You shouldn't be here! This place is dangerous.'' Kiana spoke slowly and I heard the fear in her voice. Mei said nothing and walked towards Kiana with quick steps and hugged her.

Somehow I felt out of place. I knew that Kiana and Mei had a special bond with each other. And now, after months, the two of them saw each other again. I didn't want to ruin this moment, but Mei pulled me into an embrace as well. ,,Kiana-chan... Miyuki-chan, you are hurt. I will take you back to the Hyperion. Principal Theresa.... Everyone is waiting for you.'' Mei said in a trembling voice. I felt a lump forming in my throat and my lips began to tremble. I wanted to say something too, but I couldn't form any words. ,,No... I can't go back, Mei-senpai," Kiana replied. ,,I'm sorry... I can't go back... I can't put you in danger again,'' Kiana continued. I didn't say anything, I knew how Kiana felt and I respected it. It was relieving that Kiana had let me get close to her months ago.
