"You are the most cryptic, confusing person I've ever known and that's insane considering I practically grew up with you. A couple days ago you were fighting me tooth and nail over just getting your picture on the restaurant's feed and now WHAT? You're dating the Ice Princess? Am I supposed to believe this?" Jared complained, watching as Mark changed into a black suit for the party.

They were in a VIP suite, courtesy of the subject in question, and he had just finished working with the other junior chefs to perfect the meal. When he had called Jared to invite him and broke the news to him, his reaction had been obvious, as he was currently demonstrating.

"It just happened that way, my friend. I like her a lot, and yes, I don't mind my face being plastered all over the news anymore," he said, fixing his hair in the mirror. Jared scoffed in disbelief.

"Wow, that woman must have some powerful magic I was unaware of. This is insane!" He said, pacing around the room. Mark resisted the urge to roll his eyes. She actually DOES.

He kept thinking about that would-be kiss in the dressing room, and had to pace himself. She was so beautiful like that, eyes closed, lips parted, waiting for his kiss. A moment later and the contract would have been down the drain.

He glanced at his watch. 9:48pm. "Come on, Jared, the party awaits," he said, stepping out of the room. He still had a few minutes left to reach the ball room of The Mirage downstairs where the party was being held. He braced himself, knowing the barrage of questions and unwanted attention this action of his was going to garner. But thinking of Lauren's easy laugh, her witty comments and pretty smile had made him realize that she had an awesome side that she somehow only ended up showing him and him only. And he wouldn't let her down. Let's do this.

The first thing he noticed when he entered the door was the gorgeous woman standing at the podium. Her hair swept up in a sleek bun, accentuating her cheekbones and big, smoky eyes, she was breathtaking in a black blazer and pantsuit combo, her signature heels replaced by the shinier, prettier version. She really took her time to shine quite literally.

She was finishing up her speech, and he swore she smiled a little when their eyes met. "And finally, I would like to thank my handsome boyfriend, who's here tonight, he played an immense role in supporting the woman I am today and I'm eternally grateful. Thank you all for coming and hope you enjoy your time here. Cheers!" She said, amid the flashing of cameras and shouts by the partygoers.
