Tap. Tap. Tap.
A deep breath.
Let's just get this over with.

Mark took his hands off the steering wheel, turning off the car and stepping out. He stepped into the beautiful Japanese style restaurant and headed to the reception where he asked for the reservation and was directed to the booth.

He dreaded having to spend yet another hour listening to his mom nagging but a promise was a promise.
His phone vibrated with a text as soon as he sat down.
She's a good girl, be nice.

He frowned. She!? What is she talk-

"Lee Min-ho?" a sweet voice asked, and he turned to see a beautiful native Korean girl in her early twenties standing behind him. It had been a while since he heard someone call him by his name like that.

"Yes? Hello, you are?" he asked, not sure how this girl knew his name.

"Oh, hi! I'm Jung Yumi, your blind date. "she said, sitting down.

Blind date!?

"I'm sorry, I didn't know this was a blind date, I thought I was meeting my mother," he said.

"Oh. It's okay then. We can just have a casual lunch, I'm actually hungry and would hate to eat alone," she said, picking up the menu.

He pondered it for a moment, wondering what he should do in this situation. He wasn't seeing anyone, and she seemed okay with a casual lunch, and it wouldn't hurt to just eat now and be disappointed in his mother later.

They ordered, and did the whole small talk routine as they waited for their food. He learnt that she was a doctor, fresh off med school, the only daughter, and she wanted to have a big family.

He found himself comparing her to Lauren, and cut himself short. So what if she was quiet whereas SHE was feisty? So what if she didn't bite her top lip when she was thinking like HER? It's already been a month, Mark. Get a hold of yourself. She hasn't even called you ONCE.

"-Mark? Are you listening?"

"Oh, sorry. I've been a little out of it recently," he said, apologizing.

"No, it's okay. I heard you broke up with your famous girlfriend. It was allover the internet, she seemed like a nice girl, what happened?" she said softly, probably afraid she might offend him.

"Oh, yeah. We just, had different interests I guess," he said. She left me, and for a dumb reason too.

"Well, I'm glad you seem okay now. I haven't dated for a while, and I'm actually looking for a lifetime partner so that's why I agreed to a blind date, this is how they do it back home my mother says," she explained.

"Right, well, I think you'll find a good man. You're a decent and pretty girl," he said, meaning it.

"So, will we really not be meeting again? I enjoyed my time here, and I don't think I want to go on more blind dates, I think I prefer meeting someone more naturally. So, I was thinking, can I tell my mom this went well so she won't hound me to meet anyone else?" she said.
