3rd Person POV
It was a rather mundane day, you're on your bed just laying there staring at the ceiling. You sit up and look around taking in every detail of your room, not that anything changed. You decide to get up and sit at your computer, once again going through the email that you received the other day. Your train of thought was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Hey, (Y/N) you got a minute?" your dad asked.
"The door's unlocked, dad." you responded. "Is it time to train again?"
Your dad enters your room and walks up next to you, he notices that your browser had the email pulled up, and he smiles.
"Someone's excited that they're going to U.A. High School." he teased. "Your mother and I expected this day to come, just not this soon. It was almost like yesterday that you were still our little kid."
"Dad, no need to get sentimental about all this." you said embarrassed. "Besides, didn't you go to U.A. as well?"
"I did, but your case is different after all." he said in a matter-of-fact tone. "You got in via recommendation. Into the Hero course I may add."
"What difference does it make?" I asked confused.
"It means that you have potential, son." he said as he paced around my room. "I may have gotten into U.A., but was placed into General Studies. Don't get me wrong, General Studies was nothing to belittle. We also played our role in U.A. and outside it."
You look at him confused, still not understanding what he was trying to say.
"What your father is trying to say is that we're proud of you, (Y/N). your mom interrupted him as she entered the room. "And shouldn't you be taking him to U.A. soon? The exams will begin in 2 hours!"
Both you and your dad froze in place, realizing what time it was.
[Timeskip: U.A. High School]
You answered the written examination with fair ease, due to you studying beforehand. Not to mention your dad giving you tips on where to focus on was helpful, with most of the exam having to do with current events.
All of the students who took the recommendation exam were brought to an obstacle course. You were all lined up single file, as Present Mic explained the rules for the practical portion of the examination. You took a good look in front of you, and noticed how the obstacle course consisted of different terrains. It's almost like they were preparing you to survive in all types of environments. A huge lake, what seemed to be mountain terrain, and a mockup of a city.
"How do they have the budget to make all this?" you thought to yourself. "No matter, I need to focus. Not just on the race, but to not overuse my quirk." but just as that part crossed your mind.
"But it's an obstacle course so you can't just run straight through it." Present Mic yelled. "Use your quirk to reach the finish!"
Your POV
"Great." I spoke to myself.
We were paired 6 students at a time, and we had to make it through the entire course within a certain timeframe to pass. I looked to my left to see my competition, and they looked tough. Two of them stood out in particular. One was huge and had this creepy smile, the other one was around my height and had a cold expression.
"On your marks!" Present Mic yelled.
I breathe in trying to regulate my heartbeat.
"Get set!" he pointed towards the mechanical arc in front of us as the lights counted down.
