NOAH ALSTON

i walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, where my mom was cooking breakfast. "morning mom." i greeted her with a small smile as she returned it.

"morning honey. i'm making some breakfast. pancakes and french toast." my smile got bigger as this was my favorite breakfast.

i sat down on the counter as i watched my mom. "you need any help?" i asked. she shook her head, a small smile on her face. "no, i'm okay honey. i'm almost done." i slightly nodded.

"so.. how are you feeling? today's your first day." i let out a quiet sigh. "i mean.. i'm just a little nervous. actually, that's a lie. i'm a lot nervous. but as long as i get through this first day, i think i'll be okay." my mom put the pancakes on a plate.

"i like that attitude, noah. it'll be okay. you better tell me all about your day when you get home." i took two pancakes off of the plate before grabbing a french toast.

"don't worry mom, i'll be sure to tell you all about it." i said, putting some maple syrup on the pancakes. "are you gonna be driving?" i took a bite of my pancake before nodding.

"yeah, i don't wanna take the bus. there's a bunch of weirdos on there." my mom laughed, finding what i said quite hilarious. "i get that honey." i soon finished up my pancakes and ate my french toast before putting my plate in the sink.

i headed back upstairs to brush my teeth and quickly brush my hair. i grabbed my backpack and my phone before walking back down the stairs.

"hey mom, i'm leaving." she came out of the kitchen, coming to give me a hug. "i love you honey. have an amazing first day." i smiled as i kissed her cheek. "i will." i walked out the front door as i waved to my mom, her waving back with a smile on her face.

i got into my car and put my backpack in the passenger seat. i carefully backed out of the driveway, making my way to my new school.

i made it to my school as i parked my car. i looked around and noticed students just laughing and talking with each other. i took a deep breath before grabbing my backpack and getting out of my car, making sure to lock it.

i put my hair behind my ear as i noticed a few of the students were staring at me, confused expressions on their faces seeing an unfamiliar face.

i just kept my gaze to the floor as i felt my cheeks turn hot. i wasn't used to having this much attention on me. i tried to quickly make my way into the school as i had to get my schedule from the main office.

it didn't take me too long to find the office as it wasn't too far from the front doors of the school. i hesitantly walked in as there was a lady who looked to be in her 50s, typing away at her computer.

"um.. hi." i said quietly, cursing at myself mentally for being so awkward. she turned her attention to me as a big smile made its way across her face.

"hi dear, are you noah?" i nodded shyly, fidgeting with my fingers. "okay cool, let me get your schedule for you." she smiled at me before getting up and disappearing behind a corner.

i looked around the office. the walls were a cream white and there was lots of paintings hanging up. she soon returned holding a paper in her hand, which i assumed was my schedule.

"okay dear, here is your schedule. don't worry, your locker number and combination are on there as well. my name is mrs. anderson and if you need anything, don't be afraid to come ask me. also, you don't need to feel nervous. you're not the only new student today." i smiled, feeling somewhat relieved that she was nice.

"okay, thank you mrs. anderson." she nodded with a smile on her face. "of course dear. have a great first day." i walked out of the office only to bump into someone.

"oh, i'm so sorry, i didn't mean—" but i was cut off. "no, no, it's okay. i'm sorry, i should have been more aware of my surroundings." i looked at the person i bumped into. she was a little taller than me, with medium length dark brown hair, and brown eyes.

"i'm elena, by the way. i don't think i've seen you around here before. are you new?" i nodded, still feeling a little embarrassed that i bumped into her. "yeah, i'm new. i'm noah." a smile made its way across her face.

"noah.. what a cool name." i smiled, not feeling so nervous anymore. "thank you. elena is such a pretty name." she was about to respond, but before she could, someone called her name. "elena, there you are! me and bonnie have been looking for you." two girls stood by elena, soon noticing me.

the one girl had light blonde hair and blue eyes while the other girl had brunette hair and dark eyes. "oh, who's this?" the girl with light blonde hair asked. "this is noah. she's new. noah, this is caroline and bonnie." i shyly waved at them as they smiled.

"here, let me see your schedule." i handed elena my schedule as she scanned over it. "oh great! it looks like we both have first period together, history." i felt relieved knowing i would have at least one class with someone who seemed nice.

"cool! it looks like we all have history together." bonnie said, a smile on her face. "we should probably start heading to that class." elena stated as i nodded and started walking with them.

caroline was going on a rant about something, but suddenly stopped causing all of us to look at her. "oh my god.. did you see that guy?" we all looked at caroline, confused. "what guy?" bonnie asked, clearly confused. "he is so hot. i think he might be the other new student." elena and bonnie shook their heads as a small smile made its way across my face.

all four of us arrived to our first period class as we all sat close to each other. "i'm telling you, that guy was so hot." bonnie rolled her eyes with a small smile. "okay caroline, we get it. he was so hot." we all continued to talk with each other, but stopped when we noticed a guy walked in.

"oh my god, that's the hottie i saw." caroline whispered. his eyes scanned the room before stopping on elena, his gaze then slowly going to me. his eyebrows furrowed, making it seem like he was confused. he quickly looked away from the both of us before sitting down in a seat diagonal from elena.

me and elena looked at each other, confused on why he was staring so intently at the both of us. yet, we both shook it off as the teacher came into the room and started teaching the lesson.
