The eyes.
Those eyes that glistened in the dim green light. Those eyes that smirked even though the lips weren't.
"You good?"
I winced and only now saw who was standing in front of me.
"Damn! Kiki, what happened? You look like you've seen a ghost", Joanne exclaimed as she looked at me.
"No", I stuttered, "I'm fine."
I shook my head, trying to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling from before.
"Yeah... right", she replied, not believing me but letting it go anyway.
"I need a drink. How 'bout you?", I asked her while turning around and starting to walk towards the bar. But before I could make out her response, I bumped into someone.
"Sorry", I replied quickly.
"Na, it was my fault", the guy said, as he smiled down at me with a genuine broad smile. "Care for a drink?"
"Definitely", I responded with a flirty smile.
I couldn't help but notice the adorable lines he had around his hazel eyes as he kept smiling. Damn he was cute.
We went to the bar and he bought me a martini and for himself a vodka on the rocks. We raised our drinks and took a sip of them.
"So, ... what's your name?", he asked.
"Kiki."
"Unusual name. I'm Daniel."
" Thanks and nice to meet you, Dan."
We smiled at each other and as I was about to take another sip of my drink, I got a message on my phone. It read that Joanne decided to go home and wished me good luck with 'that cute guy'. As I read that, I had to roll my eyes. I put my phone away after sending a short reply saying 'shut up, gn', so that I could focus my full attention back on Daniel.
We then talked some more about trivial stuff and I soon finished my martini and asked him: "Do you wanna dance?"
He downed his drink, put it back on the bar, turned towards me again and leaned down to me until we were the same height.
"Thought you'd never ask."
Such a tease! But two could play that game.
Therefore, I matched his flirty smile while we walked into the middle of the dance floor and started dancing. We both seemed to be quite tipsy as we danced really close and had the best of times while we sang or shouted along the music. There was only us. We didn't care about the other people in the club. In fact, we didn't even seem to notice that we weren't alone.
After dancing to so many songs and forgetting about the time, we stumbled out of the club, both in need of some fresh air. We laughed so hard that in the end I couldn't breathe anymore. What was so funny? We didn't even know, but that only made it more hilarious.
"Oh my god, I'm about to die!", Dan said in between the laughter.
"Me..... too", I tried saying as I fought to get some air into my lungs. "Damn, I am drunk", I only brought out in a slur.
I looked at him and then it happened again. We both broke out in a fit of laughter. When we got down enough to breath normally and stand up straight, I finally managed to look him in the eyes again.
"I better get home".
"Yeah."
I stumbled to the curb of the street and whistled for a cab. Dan followed after me and made sure I got safely in.
