"Hey, how are you doing?" Kiri asks as she walks up to me. I on the other hand am working on a new top and matching necklace and armband. "I am fine. Why wouldn't I be?" I ask in a rather harsh "Because of that." She says, meaning my tone of voice. I scoff and put down my loom. "Let's not talk here" Gesturing to my mother in the corner working on balms and food. She nods and he heads out to the beach.
"So~" she drags out "Is it something to do with last night?" I let out a sigh and started to play with the beads in my hair "Maybe.." she gave me a reassuring smile "Do not worry, he was worried about Lo'ak's ass, he did not mean anything he said and did." I finally looked at her "But..didn't he? He pushed me away, just like how he is trying to push away the feeling of wanting to leave here." She put her arm around my shoulders and we walk in comfortable silence. Until we see a group circling what appears to be Lo'ak. "Kiri, Noi'tey! Perfect timing." Roxto calls out to us. We head over to the group, "Lo'ak was just about to tell us what happened before they found him last night." He smiles at us and we look at the boy in question.
As he explains the story the four of us Metkytena look at him confused. "The tulkun has not yet returned, and even if, no tulkun is ever alone," Ao'nung explains. "Well, this one was. He had scars all over his body, and a missing fin." At this moment I realize "Payakan.." Tsireya says looking at Lo'ak in fear. "Who's Payakan?" The four of us look at each other and then at Lo'ak "Payakan is a young bull who went rogue. He's outcast. Alone" Roxto explains, "They say he is a killer. You are lucky to be alive." Reya says as she holds his hands. Lo'ak shakes his head "He's killed Navi and other tulkun. Not here but far south." Ao'nung explains "No, he's no killer. He saved my life. I'm telling you." Neteyam sighs and stands up "My baby bro, who faced the killer tulkun, and lived to tell his tale." Lo'ak smacks his hands away and stands. "You guys don't understand." He then storms off "Skxawngs." I simply say as I rush past Neteyam and to Lo'ak.
"Lo'ak waits" I call out and he just keeps heading for the Ilu. I quicken my pace and catch up to him. "Lo'ak, I would love to hear how payakan is." He looks at me shocked and smiles at me. "Can it wait till I get back? I want to go thank him." I smile and push his shoulder. "I'll be here, whenever you need to talk." I smile as does he and he dives into the water. 'And now back to my top' I think to myself as I start towards my marui.
I get to the marui and see Roxto, Ao'nung, Kiri, and Neteyam sitting in the main area. And just to my luck, my weaving stuff is right next to Neteyam "Shit" I mutter to myself and walk in "Hey baby sis!" Ao'nung calls out as he jumps up "Hey we saw the stuff you were making and Kiri and Neteyam wanted to know how to make it." I give him an awkward smile and he hugs me "Don't worry, Roxto and I will sit closest to him while you're with Kiri." He gives me a slight smile and I nod. "Well first we are going to need to get some shells and seaweed for you all because I sure as hell do not have enough"
Roxto and Kiri stay behind while Ao'nung, Neteyam, and I head to the reef. While Ao'nung was tasked with getting all the seaweed that left Neteyam and I, for getting the shells and other such things. Neither of us spoke a word just making sure we were in the same area. I feel a light tap on my shoulder and turn to see Neteyam. He held out his hand and handed me a light blue pearl and a few pieces of purple coral. He looks away as he hands me them and heads off to find more shells, not knowing the gravity of what he has just done. "Ready?" Ao'nung asks I give him a nod and we all make our way back to the marui with plenty of seaweed shells and coral, and one particular blue pearl.
