"You think they'll like us?"

"Here's to hoping, little brother."

Outside the home of the Price family stood two Afro-Latino siblings, the first being a nineteen year old girl, light-skinned with curly hair that went down to her back. She had caramel brown eyes and a beautiful smile to match.

The other sibling, was her nine year old little brother. Like his sister, he shared her curly hair though it wasn't as long, he tied his into a messy bun. He shared his sister appearance, from her caramel eyes to her her flawless skin.

See, the sibling duo had just recently moved moved to Arcadia Bay and the eldest felt it would be a good idea to introduce themselves to their neighbors.

Taking a breath, the nineteen year old girl would knock on the door and take a couple steps back while her brother would dust himself off.

After a couple moments, the door would open and a male with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes would open the door.

"Hello!" He would greet the siblings. "I take it your our new neighbors?"

"Ah— yes!" The curly haired girl would respond. "I'm Carmen Wildflower and this is my little brother, Y/N."

She says, to which Y/N would respond with a wave.

"Nice to meet you kids, I'm William Price. You know, my daughter and her friend are home and they're about Y/N here's age. How about you two come in? My wife should be coming home soon she'd love to meet you two."

Nodding their heads, Carmen and Y/N accepted the invite into their home and as they stepped in, Y/N looked into the house and noticed two girls looking looking at them.

The first being a girl with strawberry blonde hair similar to that of William. She seemed to stand a couple of inches taller than Y/N and the other having auburn brown hair and she was about a inch or two shorter than Y/N.

Upon making making eye contact with the brown haired girl Y/N would instantly break it and look down at his feet. Carmen would notice and giggle to herself.

"I'll be in the kitchen with William, go make some friends." She says. "Oh and try not to fall in love. We just got here." She giggles nudging her brothers shoulder before walking off.

The comment would get a light blush out of Y/N who quickly shook his head to get himself out of it. Mustering up the courage, he walked over to the girls, careful not to trip over himself.

"I— uh— I'm Y/N." The boy spat out, first impressions clearly weren't his thing.

"Hey, I'm Chloe." The strawberry blonde girl spoke.

"A-and I'm Max." The shorter one introduced herself.

"You met my dad right? He's cool isn't he?" Chloe asked Y/N with a grin. Though she phrased it as a question, she clearly only expected one answer from the boy.

Grinning back, Y/N replied: "The coolest. He's so tall! And to be honest, I didn't expect for him to invite us in." He answered honestly.

"Hey, uh— Y/N?" Max timidly spoke. "I really like your outfit." The shorter girl stated, avoiding eye contact with the boy.

"I— uh—..." Y/N stuttered. "T-Thank you. My sister told me to where something nice and this is what I came up with." Actually, his sister picked it out for him. But he'd never tell them that.

Chloe, giggling at the cute interaction between Max and Y/N, spoke. "Hey, we were gonna play pirates in the backyard. Wanna play?"

With a big grin, Y/N replied: "Yeah, sounds fun." And with that, the three kids went out into the back.

From that day, Y/N immediately became the two's best friend and they were his going forward they were a trio. A inseparable one at that. Whenever Max and Chloe hung out, they went and got Y/N.

Chloe even teased Y/N and Max about liking one another. It annoyed them to no end, but anybody with eyes could see it, including Carmen, William and Joyce Price, Max's parents— well everybody but Y/N and Max of course.

Y/N and Max were even there when Chloe found out that William had passed away. His death hit even Y/N hard who only knew him for a few years.

He was a male role-model in Y/N's life. And they way he went seemed... unfair to Y/N. The day of his death, Y/N remembers so vividly fighting back tears holding Max and Chloe in a hug and saying: "We'll be okay, I'll always have your back Chloe. Even if you couldn't walk, I'd carry you on my back."

The three shared a love like no other. A inseparable bond. Until, it wasn't so inseparable anymore.

One day, Max moved from Arcadia Bay to Seattle it was awful on the trio they spent everyday together before the move and after Chloe and Y/N would drop Max off and walk to their homes she'd urge him every time to confess to her.

...

"You're being difficult Y/N!" Chloe exclaimed. "If you don't, you'll regret it."

"No chance." The boy replied. "Too much going on for her right now. When the time is right."

"And what if by the time she has a boyfriend?" Chloe questions.

The questions indeed brings Y/N to silence, pondering a response which eventually he does give.

"Then that means "Cauliflower" was never meant to happen." He says smirking at finally using the ship name Chloe had given them.

"Hey— You said it!" She says excitedly. "Wait— don't you distract me!"

Chuckling, Y/N wished his best friend goodnight and headed off to his home.

After Max moved, Y/N promised he'd stay by Chloe's side. He promised with or without Max she was still his best friend and their friendship would remain the same.

He held true to his word, up until he didn't. As time went on, Chloe started to go down a path Y/N wouldn't follow her on. She started doing drugs and hanging around people Y/N didn't mesh with.

He tried and tried to bring her back. Keep her safe but she refused, they fought more and more until it all came to a head in one argument and that was that.

"WildPrice" as they dubbed themselves was no more. Y/N wanted nothing to do with her and she wanted nothing to do with him then he went off the grid. Between school and helping with the Bakery his sister ran, Y/N kept his head down.

He even had a falling out with Max. Well, kind off. It wasn't technically a "Falling out." because their falling out wasn't an argument but after Max
moved, he didn't hear from her. At first, he'd text her but she never did respond.

Every day he'd wait for her to so much as send him a text of just "Hey" but she never did and eventually he just gave up hoping.

And just like that, a trio that looked like they would never fought, let alone would fall out with one another, seemingly fell apart.

But that's all the past, today's a new day. Maybe, today'll be the day destiny brings them together.

Or in Y/N's words: "If we were supposed to be friends, they'll be back one way or another."
