Now, the Ledgers were a couple that lived in number 5 Private Drive and were a sweet but childless couple. They loved each other dearly, and wished to have a child. They tried and tried but Miss. Ledger just couldn't get pregnant. They were concerned, so they went to the doctor. When Mr. and Miss. Ledger went to the doctor, they found out some terrible news. Miss. Ledger was unable to have any children. Mr. and Miss. Ledger were so very upset, when they got home Miss. Ledger bursted into tears.
"Oh E-Ed... I-I can't b-believe this! W-we c-cant have children b-because of m-me! " Miss. Ledger Sobbed as she fell to the floor in grief.
"No. no, no! Mia, my love! You are not at fault! How could you have predicted this?" Mr. Ledger, now known as Ed exclaimed as he hugged his now weeping wife.
"B-but what d-do we do n-n-now?" Miss. Ledger hiccuped through tears, for she had lost all hope for a child to raise and love.
Mr. Ledger thought for a moment as he rubbed his wifes back in comfort.
"We... could visit an adoption center, or an orphanage? But It's late, so let's go to bed and talk about it in the morning." Mr.Ledger helped his wife up and held her hand till they got to their bedroom.
"W-what if we don't find the right one?" Miss. Ledger Whispered weakly.
"Then we'll look elsewhere" Mr. Ledger said determinedly, for he too, wished oh so dearly for a child to raise.
With new hope in hand they retired for the night, unprepared for what was to happen in the morning.

At exactly three in the morning, A woman of tall stature showed up, Dressed in black cloak and a dark navy gown that barely brushed against the pavement as she walked Briskly to her destination, which just so happened to be number 5 Private drive. Her walking came to a stop at the house, she looked at the dark wood door with a sad almost yearning expression. She then looked down at the basket she was carrying. A baby boy, sleeping peacefully unknowing of the world around him. The woman whispered to him.
"I'm so sorry Corvus. I... I can't take care of you any more. I wish that I could, I really do... but I feel something terrible will happen, and I wish you to not be a part of it. This... is the only way, My sister will take care of you, I promise. She's a squib you know? Disowned sadly, sent to an adoption center without any memories, poor sister... I always wished we would meet one day but now, it seems that it will never happen. I only wish the best for you. I love you Corvus and I'm sorry to say that we will never meet again."
With her sad rambles done, she kissed his head and placed his basket down by the door. The baby shifted slightly, with a note and key in the baby's hand. With one last look at the boy, she left. She was never found a day after that.

Now when Miss. Ledger woke up in the morning to make breakfast and get the mail from yesterday, she was not expecting anything strange outside the door. So when she stepped outside and screamed. Let it be known that to scream was a very normal thing to do when a child in a basket was found by the door.
"Mia?! Is everything ok dear?!" Mr. Ledger yelled as he rushed down the stairs, his night clothes on. When he finally reached the front door he was at least expecting someone to be out there. However he too, was not expecting a child in a basket. He Gasped at the unexpected turn of events.
