(DAPHNE'S POV)

I woke up the next morning to my alarm at 6 AM. Another normal school morning, I hate it. Who the hell likes Monday mornings? Everyone who does, has serious problems. I got out of bed and walked over to my closet, what the hell was I gonna wear...? I can't show my scars, but who he hell would walk around with a hoodie in Outer Banks? About 20 minutes later, I found a grey zip up hoodie, I decided to wear a white crop top, jeans shorts and then the zip up hoodie to cover my arms. And now that I had plasters on my cheekbone and my lip, and also a few on my legs after last night, I had to come up with an excuse... dropping a vase? No... I'd just have to figure something out, but now, I had to focus on getting ready for school. I put my hair up in a high ponytail, the same as always. I decided to leave early, in hope to avoid my dad. I slowly and quietly walked down the stairs to see my dad in the kitchen. I carefully grabbed my school bag, took on my shoes and left, I tried to be quiet while opening the door, but no. That goddamn door had to mess up everything for me. My dad heard the door opening and turned around. "Daphne? Why are you leaving so early?" My dad asked. "Uhm... cause... well... I feel like it..." I said nervously. "Well why don't you wait so that I'll drop you off like always?" He said. "Well... I just don't want to..." I said and looked down to the floor, expecting a slap, or a punch, or maybe getting pushed into a wall. But no... he actually picked up a kitchen knife and cut my stomach. I put my hands over the cut as I felt the tears in my eyes. I ran up the stairs as the blood was dripping down on my shorts. "Stop being so fucking ungrateful, you brat!" My dad yelled as I heard him throw the knife after me in the stairs. I ran up to the bathroom upstairs and started cleaning the cut, it hurt so bad. I had to change shorts too. When I was done, I was shaking as I walked down the stairs. I took my shoes back on and this time, I just left, not giving a damn about if he saw me or not. I just hoped the zip up hoodie would cover the cut a little too even though it was open. I just went to school. 30 minutes early, I got inside and walked up to my locker. I got a few weird looks from other students, which was understandable since I had plasters on my face and knees.

(JJ'S POV)

"Daph? What's up with the plasters? And.. what is that scar on your stomach?" I said as I walked up to her, seeing that she was earlier than usual to school. "Oh uh... I... dropped a few plates last when I was helping my dad clean up..." She said. "Really? You were helping him clean up that late?" I asked her. "And the cut on your stomach? It looks.. awfully fresh..." I added. "Yeah uh.. well.. this morning I was using a kitchen knife and uhm.. I wasn't so careful with it so... it's my fault, a pretty stupid accident..." She said and looked down to the floor. "Are you sure, Daphne? You didn't... like... make those cuts yourself...?" I asked and lifted up her chin to get her to look at me. I saw a small blush on her face when I touched her chin. "Y- yeah... I'm sure, don't worry... and you haven't told anyone, right?" She asked me. "No, I haven't, I promise." I said.
