The next day, the two of you decided to abide at Heizou's new place, which was very conveniently above yours. You couldn't help but notice that the apartment's layout is slightly different from yours. Perhaps it was to match the exterior parts of this building, that the walls were spread a little wider and the ceiling slightly lower. Everything seemed to be flipped一 the furniture was organized on the right side of the door instead of the left side, promptly confusing your left and right in terms of entering rooms across from each other.
"Do you need any help unpacking?" he asked, noticing the amount of boxes nearby.
"Oh, it's fine一" But before you could finish your sentence, he had already picked up a box nearby. "... you don't have to!"
You were worried that he'd pick up the box with your weapons in it and expose you for possessing such things. Even worse, he could report it to the police and you'd be gone for good.
You only moved in because you and Heizou agreed that a fresh start without living with past evidence of residence would be optimal for both of your "missions".
"I'll take these boxes, you can take the others," you said, kicking your supposed package of all sorts of blades to your side. "Which room should I unpack in?"
"Whichever you'd like," Heizou told you, heading to the right. "I'll take the right if that's okay with you."
You nodded and picked up two boxes before entering the room across, quickly unpacking your things.
The boss' words still repeated in your ears.
"Don't make yourself my first kill."
You shivered just thinking about it. Time passed and soon your room had been unpacked, still organized similarly to your previous setup in your old apartment.
"Well... I have some things to do today," you told him, taking one of your bags and slinging them over your shoulder. "I'll probably be back in the evening, as I have a longer shift and need to tend to something after work. You'll be alright?"
Heizou smiled at you for a moment, before he turned back to his boxes and nodded. "No worries, I have grocery and clothing errands to run anyways."
A relieved sigh escaped your lips一which Heizou did not miss. "Is something the matter?" he asked, a shiver running down your spine.
You shook your head, feeling pale. "Nothing!" you said, as if you weren't going to assassinate someone later this afternoon. "Just worried for a day of work."
Mmm, I guess being a cashier is stressful. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure it'll be fine... I'll be back home by 20:30, so I'll see you then?"
"Alright, then I'll see you later!!" You quickly ducked into your room and began to unpack, waiting for Heizou to leave before you could prepare for your... eventful day.
Before your boss hung up on you, she entrusted to you a task to kill a (foolish) mafia boss-to-be that was about to set off on his first recorded mission to supposedly threaten the existence of your association tonight. He had a short criminal history of armed shoplifting, attempted bank robbery while drunk, and arms trafficking.
But with you on the job, he wouldn't get as far as reaching his front door to leave.
However, you were required to attend your shift first as a cashier.
