chapter 5: lies

"HEY KID!" I heard a voice call from behind me, I turned around to see a cop running at me.
My first instinct was to run so I got my ass out of here running for dear life.

I checked over my shoulder to see if the man was still chasing me, I didn't see anything so I sighed walking forward but I bumped into something, I looked up and saw a cop.
Fuck.

"Why are you around this area?! Don't you know it's unsafe? " asked the cop

I stared at him for a few seconds, I was gonna tell him that I was looking for clues but I remembered Mr mysterious told me not to tell ANYONE.

"Uhm I was just buying myself coffee and a donut in that cafe and walking around for exercise" I lied as the cop raised an eyebrow not expecting that answer from a teenage boy.

"Really? Aren't together supposed to be playing games inside? " asked the cop as I checked my phone and said
"Actually I'm supposed to be home in 30 minutes, if you don't mind me I'm going to go"I said walking off as the cop stared at me walking off.

I came home and I heard my mum call my name, " mugo" I walked closer to her voice and I saw that she was watching the news. When she saw me she showed me a clip,

"Do you know anything about this girl? She was in your school and she lived next to that park where you just were. " Her voice sounded shaky and worried at the same time.

I shook my head "I don't. I'm sorry. What even happened? 'I asked lying through my teeth.

" she was kidnapped a day ago, no signs of her what's so ever, there's a detective that got fired recently the cops think it's him that kidnapped her" she explained as my eyes winded in fear.

"I'm going to my room I'm tired. " I said as I quickly left the room she was in grabbing my phone and locking my door.
