A/N: I looked through these chapters and God... God, I wanted to cry. It literally felt like I hadn't even edited them, hello?!? So, now, I'm gonna go through these previous chapters and do some fixer-upper. Besides, the new chapter will be out soon.

“You know what?” A rat mutant raised his hands, not prepared to lose to his kids. “I gotta tell the story again.”

His kids, in turn, groaned. This was it. The story that would result in their defeat- well, one could say it like that, I suppose.

On the wall behind him was hung a picture of them all, much younger. The older mutant held his four turtle sons, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michaelangelo, altogether, all in laughs and smiles.

“It all started fifteen years ago. I was a young rat in my twenties.”

The streets of New York City were rather quiet, a woman walking her dog in the morning when a taxi passed them by.

Across the streets stood a trashcan, a few rats digging through the garbage in it. A smaller rat waved at a darker and much bigger one.

“Look at me, I was so cute! I was on top of the world.”

The other rat, in response, turned from his food. But, instead of waving back like a nice rat, it screamed at the other rat before running off.

“No, I was the bottom of the world. It was terrible!”

After that, the other rat stood all alone, on his own in the trash, nobody approaching him. Right before him, two rats went by, throwing hands over food.

“Nobody liked me. I had no friends.”

A raccoon hissed at the tiny rat.

“Raacoons didn't like me.”

A dog barked at it now, scaring it off as it climbed up a pole.

“Dogs didn't like me.”

The next second, the rat was running out the door, sprinting for dear life, a man chasing him with a broom in hand.

“You know who hit me the most? Humans!”

The rat sat with a roach, both eating their meals.

“I had one friend. He was a cockroach—”

The story went on. Also, he ate his friend, the cockroach. One eventful day, the rat came across four baby turtles in the sewer, covered in a green ooze. He watched all of them warily, even growling at one when it came close but, when it rubbed its head against him, he calmed down slightly, feeling… less hunted, probably.

They were possibly the only thing that hadn't tried to harm him and, so, he brought them to his home, unable to leave the creatures behind. Yet, not long after, the ooze changed them all, gradually transforming them to be somewhat... humanlike.

“It was weird but, we became a family.”

The rat—Splinter—took care of them, and as he said they'd become a family.

One night, Splinter walked through the sewer, his sons following behind. The lights from the city above shone down there through the drain. Suddenly, he halted, feeling something tug on his tail. He looked back, finding the turtles all motioning to the outside world.
