In the playground of a certain elementary school you can find a ten year old Ruby Hoshino on the swings with her older twin brother Aqua Hoshino.  "Brother." Aqua turned his head to see his sister staring off into the distance. "What is it Ruby?" The young girl looked over at her brother and said "Don't you think that boy over there looks pretty lonely? I mean he's just sitting there by himself and no one is going up to him." Aqua looked towards the boy his sister mentioned. The boy was fairly an adorable kid to say the least. He has beautiful purple hair and yellow eyes. Ruby was right though, he did seem lonely. "Maybe he just wants to be alone?" Ruby didn't seem very pleased with this answer because she glared at him a bit. "Brother look at his eyes! He looks sad." She looked like she was contemplating something before she spoke up and said "I'm going to go up to him and ask if he wants to play with us!" Ruby gave no time for her brother to reply and sped off into the direction of the purple haired boy, leaving her brother behind on the swings. All he could do was sigh at her actions.

When Ruby approached the boy he wasn't looking in her direction so she decided to call out to him. "Uh, hey! Boy with the pretty purple hair!" Her voice made him flinch since he didn't expect someone to approach him. He hesitated as he looked at her before speaking up. "..me?" "Well, you're the only one with purple hair here so yes you." She stated. He didn't understand why some random girl was calling out to him by his hair color. "I have a name you know."  She just stared at him. "I know you have a name but that doesn't mean I know it." Well he didn't think about that. "Right... well my name is Melt Narushima." She had to keep herself from giggling at his first name. It reminded her of her brother's name. "Nice to meet you Melt! I'm Ruby Hoshino! And that's my twin brother Aqua over there." She said while pointing at her twin. Melt didn't question his name. "Anyways, why are you here by yourself? Are you waiting for someone?" She tried to be as nice and polite as possible so she didn't accidentally offend him. He paused then looked at her. "No..I don't exactly have.. friends here." "Hm? Why not? You seem pretty cool." He was a bit shocked by her statement but covered it up quickly. "I .. just don't. I don't think the others like me very much."

Ruby POV:
What does he mean by that? I don't think he has any qualities that make him dislikable. Is it because of that gloomy look on his face? I know I hate the  gloomy and sour face my brother has all the time so maybe it's something similar. "Maybe it is the face.." He gave me a look. Did I say that out loud? My bad. "I don't mean it like that. I think." "You think?" All I can do is smile with the beautiful smile I got from mama! He can't get mad at that hehe! "Why are you smiling?" Well that failed. "Well what I mean is, you frown a lot from what I have seen. Some people may intimidated by that... what I'm trying to say is people feel more comfortable around people that smile!" I hope that made sense. I'm not sure if I understood what I said. "What's there to smile about?" "Plenty of things! Like for example desserts or family or your favorite idols! My favorite idol is ma- Ai!" I hope he didn't notice my slip up, that would be bad. "Isn't that the legendary idol that died a few years ago? You're still a fan of hers?" What does he mean by that? Can I not be a fan of mama's? How absurd. "Of course I am! She was and still is the best idol that has ever walked on this earth! I'm going to be just like her one day. Making people all around smile with the rest of my idol group!"

Melt's POV:
She seems really enthusiastic about this. I guess I can't judge her since I kind of want to be an actor. Mom says I would be good at it so it can't be too hard, right? That's a future me problem anyways. She keeps talking about smiles. Is smiling really that effective? I don't get it. I keep staring at her smile and I think she noticed because she seemed a bit annoyed about it.

"Why are you staring at me like that? Is it so wrong to have hopes and dreams for the future? I bet you do too!" She's not wrong but she's more dedicated than I am about it. "I sort of do. I think being an actor would be cool since it doesn't sound too hard." I swear I saw her frown a bit. "What do you mean by 'doesn't sound too hard'?! Actors and other celebrities work hard at their jobs. They put their heart and souls into their acting just to make sure they get it right! Don't undermine them." Is she serious? I bet I could act better than her and that one child actress combined! It's not that hard. Never mind Melt. Don't feed into this.
