-Here is the girl. Take her- a Caretaker bluntly ordered.
Within five seconds, Edith and I found ourselves surrounded by the group of men in suits.
Their faces were covered by helmets as white as their suits, and looking closer I noticed the outline of a gun in each of their pants pockets.
Edith and I had shocked faces and so did my Keeper (but he had been keeping it for a long time now).
The Keepers immediately noticed the body on the floor.
-You two. You were caught at the scene of a crime. Anything you say can get you a one-way trip to Hell-said one of the guards with chilling tranquility.
-I have not killed anyone. I am here by an unfortunate coincidence!-justified the annoying Edith.
-She's lying!‖ I exclaimed worriedly.
-We were chasing the girl because she is not authorized to be in this area of Heaven, much less to participate in an event of The Art of Darkness- explained a guard.
-And at the same time, we were alerted by neighbors complaining about an argument; they heard two male voices...- another guard pointed out.
-Yes, that's right...I was arguing with the Caretaker and then...then she came and killed him! In front of my eyes!-I shouted with conviction.
-Do you have any evidence to prove it?
-She did it to frame me! She is trying to grab a place here in the City of Ecstasy! And she wanted to take mine!-.
-Wow, first you imply that I want to hit on you and then you imply that I want to set you up. You need to rearrange your thinking...-huffed Edith.
-Don't listen to her! She is investigating the city of Ecstasy and the people in it. She has targeted me, but I am not her only target-she wants to destroy the order of Heaven! Look at the notebook she keeps in her pocket!-I proclaimed with a smile. The scales of justice were hanging on my side.
-Show me your pockets!‖ ordered a guard to Edith.
The girl pulled out her notebook and offered it to him indifferently; along with it was a small card.
-A card dedicated to the Star of the Day- noticed one of the Keepers; -Did you steal it?
Edith did not answer.
In an instant I remembered the person who had entered the elevator with me....
I had not dared to look at her, but it was her.
And she had stolen my ticket.
She had probably been following me since I was in the City of Ecstasy, and she must have witnessed the fight between Zeta and me. So she must have realized that I had the ticket.
A Caretaker opened the notebook and began to read it; after a few moments, he seemed to have found something interesting:
- "I want to know God and unveil the secrets of this place‖...well this seems to me to be unequivocal evidence- confirmed the being in uniform.
-See, she's not even justifying herself! She knows she's been found out!-I exclaimed, observing her dull look.
Edith answered me in a low, expressionless tone: -No, Nathan, I do not answer because I have -been found out,‖ but because I am aware that it would be useless. Here justice listens to the Blessed of Honor, not the simple ones like me. Whatever I say will not be evaluated in the slightest. So there is no need now for you to panic like a frightened child, nor to get complacent like...-and then went on with a series of insults that I don't feel like remembering.
