when hyunli was finally allowed out of the bedroom by heeseung, one week passed. in this week, hyunli was kept up in her bedroom, reading the books sunghoon provides and getting used to her vampire powers. now, she could hear very minute sounds, and she could see from a very fast distance away.

her physical appearance has changed as well. her skin was paler, and her hair was darker than before. red flecks swirl in her irises, and her cheeks have a permanent pink tinge to it.

hyunli stretched, her feet on the carpeted floor. she yawned, stepping out of the room. she could finally explore this place. she looked around her, finding herself standing in the middle of a long hallway, filled with lit torches.

without warning, the door opposite hers opened. jake stepped out of his room, and his mouth fell open into a perfect oval at the sight of hyunli. "hyunli?"

"hi?" hyunli greeted nervously. she hadn't seen jake for an entire week, only sunghoon, niki, and heeseung visited her. but she did see jay, though, only when the latter accidentally teleported into her room.

jake scanned her. hyunli was wearing a simple and modest nightdress, and her hair was held up by a claw clip. his brows furrowed when he saw her barefooted. "wear a shoe." he commented, and hyunli followed his gaze. she shrugged. "i can't find one."

jake scowled, pulling hyunli into his room by her arm. "wait here, i'll get one for you. i might have an extra slipper here somewhere..." he ordered, leaving hyunli standing by herself.

as he walked over to rummage through the cupboard, hyunli looked around his room. jake's room was cold and large, with icicles dripping down the sides of the ceiling. his bed was covered in ice-blue silk, and hyunli spotted a guitar placed right next to his own couch. his floor was carpeted with expensive white fur, and hyunli returned the attention to jake himself.

the vampire was wearing a long, ivory sweater with matching pants. he was also wearing a pair of grey slippers. his hair looked messy like he had just woken up from bed. "you can sit on my bed if you want." hyunli hear jake say, but she chose to sit on the couch instead.

jake walked towards her, holding a pair of matching grey slippers. "i'll bring you around, the others are all out." he knelt down in front of her, grabbing her ankles. "sorry, i don't have your size. it might be too big for you."

hyunli blushed at his actions. "t-thank you." she said shyly. jake grinned at her. "it's alright. i'll bring you around this place, c'mon."

he stood back up, and hyunli followed behind him as they exited his room. "my room is directly opposite yours. heeseung hyung and sunghoon's room are just right beside us. jay hyung, jungwon, sunoo, and niki's rooms are on the other wing. this is the left wing."

he led her to the stairs. "this is the third floor."

"how many floors are there?"

"five. the first floor is the grand hall and where the servant quarters, but after... after the war, it's just the seven of us. eight, including you." jake gave her a lopsided smile. "the second floor is the living room, dining hall, and kitchen. the fourth floor is just entertainment rooms and a library. the top floor is a small playground and heeseung hyung's greenhouse."

they arrived on the second floor, right to the living room. this time, hyunli was able to take in the living room properly. compared to the other interior designs of the villa, the living room is completely modern, with a fancy aquarium sitting at the back of the huge projector screen. "we don't really interact with the outside world much, except when we have to buy essentials like clothes or food. we do eat food," jake said, leading hyunli to the open kitchen. "being a vampire actually enhances your sense, so whatever we eat, the taste is way stronger."

"what is the projector for, then?" hyunli asked, pointing towards the projector screen. jake smiled.

"well, we game sometimes. have i mentioned the entertainment rooms? jay hyung buys lots of games and just stores them there. and, besides the gift of fire, i also have the gift of electricity." he raised a finger in the air, showing off a little spark. "so it's basically me powering up this entire house."

hyunli was shocked. "that's amazing!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide. jake's pale cheek turned a little rosy, as he scratched the back of his head. "well, i'm just trying to do my part. there were seven of us living under one roof, after all. everyone has different roles to play."

he took out some fruits from the fridge. "apples?"

"sure." hyunli took a seat in front of the kitchen island. "what are the roles of the others, then?" she asked, watching jake pick a knife from the shelf.

"to be honest, it's mainly jay hyung managing the place 'cause he's the most mature. he's in charge of cooking, our overall welfare, and scolding sunoo or niki whenever they get themselves into trouble. heeseung hyung might be the oldest, but he is also very, very childish." jake sliced the apple skin skilfully. "and he is in charge of cleaning and the plant decors. sunghoon hyung and sunoo juggle the laundry and dishwashing duties too. niki... as long as he doesn't mess up the house, we're fine with it."

he sliced the apple into small pieces, placed it onto a plate, and offered it to hyunli, who took a bite. "what about... jungwon?"

"security. he prevents humans from wandering into this place. sure, only non-humans are able to see this place, but still, we must be careful. sometimes the fog lifts and this place is visible, for a brief while."

without warning, a loud 'pop' echoed in the kitchen. both jake and hyunli jumped in surprise, jake screaming loudly as jay rolled his eyes, placing two big bags of groceries on the kitchen counter. "hang on, there's more." he smirked at them, eyebrows arched. "scaredy-cats."

he disappeared again, as jake hold his chest, turning to hyunli weakly.

"i take back my words. jay hyung is equally childish."
