Harry Styles

Landing in my hometown is a weird feeling.

Stepping off of the jet, I tried to ignore how familiar the air felt. It wasn't too difficult until we got into the city, where I had to avoid looking out of the windows as we were driven to where we were staying.

There's no big hotel rooms or penthouse suites for this trip. In need to lay low and hidden, we'll be hiding out in an apartment above a bowling alley owned by one of Vince's employees.

This bowling alley, of course, is used for racketeering.

It's a small set up with barely any square footage, two small bedrooms. One bathroom. A kitchenette. No food stocked up. And I have to share it with Niall, who I haven't spoken to since we left the bar.

Even on the jet trip, not a word.

We're both unbelievably stubborn guys, and honestly, I don't know who's gonna break the silence first. We might end up coexisting in the silent treatment forever.

But whatever, I'm here to get a job done.

It's been some few hours since we got here. I've been in my room, on this twin bed that I can barely move around on and looking through the details of this job.

We're going after a rival organized crime leader who, rumour has it, sent out an assassination threat on Vincent and his wife. So, Vincent sent his best employee, and Niall, to take this guy out first.

I've killed people for Vince before. But this is intense because it's a boss. I'll have a huge target on my back if I let any detail about myself slip out. Here, I'm not Harry Styles. I'm under a totally different name and accent. Some American kid who is in need of a loan shark to lend him some money.

It should be easy if my cards are played right, and that's why we're here for a whole 5 days. To get in, get them where we want them, then knock them off.

I put the folder of information down by my side on the bed, sighing as I look at the ceiling. I lift my hand, bringing my fingers to my eye line. I gaze at the ring on my finger, put there by Vincent to symbolize his succession.

I twist it, visualizing myself in Vincent's shoes one day. I fully realize that I should feel thrill and responsibility. But, instead I just feel kind of empty.

I never used to question if this was what I wanted.

My boss, someone I admired, was impressed with me enough that he wants me to take over one day. This should be all I need.

My hand comes down beside my hip to thud onto the mattress, air huffing through my nose.

Maybe I should go talk to Niall.

No, he pissed me off.

I turn my head, my eyes catching on the black suitcase provided for me that's resting on an armchair, one of the only other pieces of furniture in this room.
