Getting them back

/Y/n/

I groan and try to sit up. "Am I dead?" I ask, and I was shocked when someone answered, "No, but close." I didn't know why, but I felt free. "Then what's happening?"
I questioned, but the voice from before didn't bother to answer me. I sighed and walked around. I couldn't explain it, but I felt as though I was in the presence of someone (or something) great.

I turned around and my shining e/c eyes met sapphire blue ones. I jumped back, startled and squeaking, "Great Odin's chair!" It was a dragon, much like Toothless, that was white, with blue eyes. Its form was simplified, so I guessed it was female.
"No need to worry, I won't hurt you. You have actually caught my attention, Y/n." She said, and I asked, "How so?" She raised her nonexistent eyebrow, "You're talking to me right now. Do you think that's normal?"

I blinked for a moment, then realized. "Oh." The dragon laughed, "Yes, Oh. Anyways, I have chosen you to be my rider (unless you want to be dragon-less)." I nodded and bowed my head, "Thank you...?" The dragon filled in,
"I have no name, but my species is called a Lightfury. I am the last of my kind, much like Toothless, the Nightfury. I am life and (although he doesn't want to be) he is death. The two of us maintain the pair, and it cycles. We choose who dies, and the valkyries choose who goes to valhalla."

I asked stupidly, "If Toothless is the maintainer of death, and I am almost dead, why isn't he here?" The Lightfury rolled its eyes, "Because I'm bringing you back to life, Idiot." I gasped, "You did NOT go there!" we ended up play-roughhousing (even though the dragon insisted that she should be lady-like and not do so).
Then she whispered, "I'll see you in a few years to check up on you. Wake up and mind the screaming." I was about to ask, "Screaming?" But before I knew it, the white space turned black, and I woke up. To screaming.

"THEY'RE ALIVE!!!"

"Let go." I tell my father firmly, who had latched onto my leg. That was the first time he had heard me speak in years. I kicked him off and looked around. The Lightfury.
I saw her looking at me in the crowd, and I ran up to hug her. I didn't ask myself why nobody was trying to contain the beast, and at the moment, I didn't care. I felt warm, and when I looked up, I was shorter.

I looked at my hand to see that it had claws. Great, now I'm a dragon. I ran through the now agitated mob of people and took off. I knew where they took Toothless, therefore, I know where Hiccup is.
I started to fly, and eventually, I accidentally swallowed a bug, and while coughing it out, I managed a plasma blast. I squinted as I went through it, and I was welcomed with the most wonderful feeling.

I also realized that I could now see the island everyone was on. So, learning from Toothless, I divebombed the giant dragon, until I found its weak point:
It's mouth. I blasted its tongue, and I realized that its tongue was it twice. I looked to the left to see Hiccup and Toothless. I smiled, before landing next to Astrid, where I nonchalantly tripped her with my tail.

I waited for Toothless to land, but when they didn't come, I was forced to look back up. Toothless was trying to catch Hiccup in mid-air. And failing. As they went through the flames, I made sure to soften their landing by breaking their fall.
I huffed as Toothless fell onto me, his wings wrapped around Hiccup. "Are you guys okay??" I ask, but it sounded like grunts and growls. Toothless nodded, only opening his wings slightly so I could see. After, he closed them back up again and pretended to be asleep.

Stoick appeared, and I whimpered in pain. I didn't realize that when I transformed, I transformed with my wounds and scars. Toothless perked up to look at me, and me muttered to himself, "Y/n? No... It couldn't be-" I nodded.
He perked up, before advising, "Those don't look good, you should change back. They're bleeding out." I scoffed, "I don't know HOW. How can I even do this anyway?" Toothless sweat-dropped, "You're the Dragon whisperer. You just awoke a few of your new powers."

I didn't bother in asking, but instead, focusing my attention on Stoick. Stoick was crying, apologizing, and only then did Toothless show Hiccup. When the Chief went to pick Hiccup up, I slapped his hand with my tail, before curling myself around the boy.
Stoick was pissed, and I hissed, testing him. Try me. He raised his fist to punch, and I suddenly changed back and whispered fiercely, "You wouldn't dare." Stoick stopped his fist an inch from my face, confused. Wasn't I dead? Guess not.

I picked up Hiccup and set him into Gobber's arms, nodding to the older male. Gobber took him into the boat. I can't even save my lover. What about everyone else? I could've tried to reduce damage... How useless am I if I can't save the ones I love?
Toothless caught me as I fell onto my knees, sobbing. Hiccup shouldn't've had to go through that. Being ignored by everybody- being told that he was useless everyday- I can't imagine.

/Hiccup/

I awoke, and got out of bed, Toothless by my side, helping me get up. I didn't question it. I walked out of the house, and I asked myself; "Am I dead?"
A voice to my right laughed, "You wish." I turned to see Y/n and I sweat-dropped, "I AM dead, aren't I?" They shook their head, "Nope! I was the one who died and got brought back to life. You just passed out. How are you?"

I blinked, "Useless, why?" Y/n groaned, "You still didn't finish the question, and save it for therapy, silly!" Therapy? "Just joking, Hicc, you're fine. Everything's fine."
In that moment, I believed them, and hugged them. They flinched but softened. I assumed it was just the wound, which I made sure to avoid.

/Y/n/

*Internal screaming*

Thoughts were rushing into my head at lightning speed, and I couldn't stop them. When Hiccup let go, I ran. Taking flight with wings I didn't know that I had, I flew off, only to catch sight of my mother and father, who were staring at me longingly.
Breathe. Why can't I breathe?? I fell, and I could hear Toothless roar as people started to group up next to me. "Y/n!" Hiccup called, but by now, all I could hear was buzzing. Why must get all the attention? How about Hiccup? He likes it, I can see the way he smiles when he receives small compliments from yours truly.

I curled up, tail around me, before it disappeared, and I was shown, whimpering and weak. Shaking like a leaf, traumatized for no reason.

WEAKLING.
