"so, you were telling me you want to be a singer?" matt says taking his eyes off the road looking into mine.
"yeah, i've always loved singing growing up and i still do. i just don't think i'll get very far." i say frowning.
"tess, your so talented. don't think like that. can i hear what you have been working on?" matt says softly.
"yeah sure, i wrote this song myself." i say plugging my phone into the car.
"awesome." he says smiling turning up the volume.
i play the recording of me singing the song i wrote. it's about matt. he doesn't know that but it's pretty obvious. the song i was singing was pretty boy by me. -(the neighbourhood .)
"this is you?" matt says stunned.
"yes." i say laughing
"your not famous for this?" he says surprised.
"nope haha, i want to be though." i say looking at him.
"tess, you have to post this. you have some serious talent." matt says seriously.
"you think? i've just been scared to cuz i get hate sometimes on my posts." i say looking down at my phone.
"yea, that will happen. but tess i think your made for this, your special." he says smiling softly putting his hand on mine.
"thanks." i blush.
"you should show nick and chris." he says excitedly.
"yea i definitely will, do you think they'll like it?" i say curiously.
"it's you singing, and your great so yea. yea they will. he says in a duh tone. making me laugh.
"hey it's getting kinda late want me to drop you off?" matt says.
"i want to see you more." i say making eye contact.
"wanna come to my house?" matt said.
"yeah, i'd love to." i say smiling at the boy.
"alright let's go." he says smiling back.
after about 10 minutes of driving at talking, we arrive at the sturniolo house.
"TESS!" nick says running down the stairs grabbing me into a hug.
"NICK!!" i say hugging back.
"omg hi tess!" chris says pushing nick off to hug me.
"hey i'm quickly talk to chris a sec i'll be right back." matt says taking chris into his room leaving me with nick.
"sooooo? how are you and matt?" nick says turning around smiling.
"what do you mean? we're just friends." i say smiling lightly.
"mmhhhhmmm." nick says raising his eye brows making me roll my eyes playfully.
matt's pov.
"what's up?" chris says sitting down on my bed.
"chris, i think i like tess." i say getting straight to the point.
"oh wow, really?! that's awesome!" chris says happily.
"yeah, i just don't know how to ask her out." i say say worriedly.
"don't worry dawg, i'll help you." chris says smacking my shoulder as he gets up.
i hope he doesn't just go tell her, i don't think he'd do that. i thought.
tessa's pov.
"hey guys." chris says walking out of matt's room.
"hey." nick and i say.
"you guys wanna watch a movie? chris says sitting down on the couch.
"sure, i'll get matt." i say getting up.
"ok." nick says smiling.
nicks pov.
"so what did he say to you?" i immediately say to chris as soon as tess leaves.
"i don't know if i cam tell you but i will just please don't tell tess." chris says seriously.
"i promise." i answer.
"ok, so matt told me that he has a thing for tess, like he likes her a lot he just doesn't know how to ask her out." chris says to me.
"oh my god." i say quietly but excitedly.
"yeah. please don't tell her matt will kill me." chris says.
"will do." i say.
my pov.
"hey matt." i say walking into his room and sitting down on his bed.
"oh hey tess." matt says sitting beside me.
"we're watching a movie out there if you want to watch with us. actually i'm not asking, i want you to come watch with me." i say smiling.
"but i don't want tooooo." he groans and falls over onto his bed.
"come onnnnn." i jump on him.
"okay okay!" he says laughing.
"thank you." i say smiling as i get off him.
"wait can i talk to you a sec?" he says grabbing my hand when i try to get up.
"yeah, what's up?" i say looking at him.
"so uh, there's this really cool new restaurant opening up on friday wanna maybe go for dinner?" he says smiling. i could tell he was anxious to ask me. but i was ecstatic, i held it in though.
"of course matt!" i say smiling.
"great. consider it a date..?" he says waiting for my reply.
"obviously matthew." i say hugging him.
i grab his hand as i get up to go to the living room, our fingers interlock and we both start to blush.
"hello you two." nick smirks as we enter the living room.
"hey we have like no snacks here, wanna go to target and grab some for the movie?" matt suggests.
"sure, just you and me?" i say looking up at the boy.
"yup." he says looking at his brothers.
"don't take too long now." nick says as we turn around to leave.
we both walk outside to the van and matt starts the car as we get in.
"what should we get?" i say a he backs out of the driveway.
"definitely some oreos." matt says happily.
"definitely." i respond.
we walk into target and mine and matt's hand touch. we interlock fingers once again and i get butterflies. but my mood instantly changes and my face drops. i saw my abusive ex.
