Sun's up, casting some chill vibes around the Swift crib. I stretch, yawn, taking in the scene. A couple of things catch my eye, and I can't help but grin like a goof.
First, there's Joe, knocked out in a chair like he's been there all his life. Gotta love the guy – crashing at our place after hanging with Mom is like a routine.
Second, there's Mom, Taylor, doing some ninja moves in the room. And guess what? She's rocking one of Joe's shirts, looking all cute and goofy. The shirt's so big on her, it's like she's wearing a dress. Oh, and did I mention she's basically got Joe's basketball shorts on too? It's the "I-just-woke-up-like-this" look, and it's pretty hilarious.
I hold in a laugh, watching the show. Decide to play it cool, stretch, act like I'm waking up normally. Then, with my most innocent voice, I say, "Oh, hey there. Morning."
Mom turns, bit surprised, her cheeks turning all rosy. "Morning, kiddo. Did our morning shenanigans wake you?"
I shake my head, a smirk giving me away. "Nah, just woke up on my own. And speaking of mornings, guess who's camping in that chair."
Mom glances at Joe, snoozing away, chuckling softly. "Well, he didn't want to disrupt your beauty sleep."
My smirk grows. "Guess he nailed that."
We head to the kitchen for breakfast, and I can't just let Mom off the hook that easily. "Oh, by the way, nice shirt, Mom."
Her face goes a bit redder, and she rolls her eyes like it's a reflex. "Yeah, well, Joe's shirt is comfy."
Sitting down, I can't help but poke a bit more. "So, it was you two last night, huh?"
Mom chokes on her coffee, shooting me this wide-eyed look that's priceless. She tries to act cool. "What? No way. We just watched a movie and... talked."
I burst into laughter. "Yeah, right. Just you, Joe, a movie, and some good ol' chatting."
She laughs too, her pretend glare softening. "You're a riot, you know that?"
I shrug, shooting back, "Hey, gotta make sure you're having a blast."
Mom reaches over and squeezes my hand. "I am, Y/N. And I'm pumped you're part of that happiness."
Just when we're having our banter, the bedroom door opens, and Joe stumbles in, looking adorably disoriented. "Morning, you two."
I greet him with a grin. "Morning, Joe. You gotta tell me – did you guys use protection?"
Joe's eyes widen, his cheeks going all shades of pink. "Uh, well, we... I mean..."
I burst into laughter, and Mom gives me this playful nudge. "Y/N, really?"
Joe chuckles, trying not to look flustered. "Okay, okay. Protection from what?"
I wink at him, my tone playful. "You know, mosquitoes. Can't let those little suckers ruin your bonding time."
Joe laughs along, his embarrassment turning into a grin. "Got it. Mosquito protection, noted."
As we continue our breakfast, the room's filled with laughter and that warm feeling you only get from a family that shares jokes and just rolls with life's funny moments. Mornings like these remind me how lucky I am for the love, the giggles, and the goofy times that bring us closer every day.
A few minutes later, as I get up from the table, I grin at Mom and Joe. "Alright, you two. I'm gonna go skate around for a bit. No naughty business while I'm gone?"
Before leaving, I shoot a wink at Mom. "Oh, and nice shorts, Mom."
Then, I turn to Joe, grinning mischievously. "And, Joe, looks like you'll be raiding Mom's dresses for fashion tips now."
Mom tries to hide her laughter behind her hand, and Joe's eyes widen, his cheeks getting even redder. They exchange a look, and I can practically see the playful banter bouncing between them.
I laugh and head out, ready to enjoy some time on my skateboard, leaving them with my playful remarks hanging in the air.
