Y/n paced nervously in her room, glancing at her two feline companions, Olivia and Benjamin. "Guys, I need your honest opinion. Do you think Mom's gonna freak out if I tell her?"
Olivia blinked lazily, uninterested, while Benjamin simply stretched and yawned. Y/n sighed, realizing they weren't the best conversation partners.
Taking a deep breath, she ventured downstairs to the kitchen, where Taylor was preparing dinner. "Hey, Mom?"
Taylor turned with a smile, "What's up, kiddo?"
Y/n fidgeted, playing with a loose strand of hair. "Can we, like, have a heart-to-heart or something? Got something on my mind."
"Sure thing, sweetheart," Taylor said, turning off the stove. They settled on the couch, and Y/n continued nervously, "So, um, there's something kinda major I've been wanting to share. Hope you won't, like, totally lose it."
Taylor raised an eyebrow, concern flickering in her eyes. "Hey, no secrets between us. What's going on?"
Y/n hesitated before blurting out, "I'm gay, and I have a girlfriend."
Taylor's eyes softened, and she reached over to squeeze Y/n's hand. "You know, sweetheart, I suspected that when you were, like, 12."
Y/n's eyes widened. "Wait, you knew? How?"
Taylor chuckled. "Remember our Star Wars marathon? Your face turned redder than a tomato whenever Padmé showed up. I've been onto you for a while. No biggie. I love you just the same."
Despite Taylor's calm response, Y/n's nerves continued their jittery dance. "I was kinda freaking out, thinking you'd flip or something, Mom."
Taylor pulled Y/n into a comforting hug. "Never, kiddo. There's nothing you could say that would make me love you any less. I'm proud of you for opening up."
Feeling a mix of relief and gratitude, Y/n managed a small smile. "There's more, Mom. I want you to meet my girlfriend."
Taylor's eyes lit up. "Awesome! When's the grand meet-up?"
Y/n's nerves eased a bit. "How 'bout inviting her over for dinner tomorrow night?"
"Perfect plan, kiddo. I'm totally on board," Taylor agreed.
With Olivia and Benjamin as the silent witnesses, Y/n felt a lot less like a nervous wreck. They headed back to the kitchen, wrapped up dinner, and Y/n was stoked to know her mom had her back, no matter what.
