Seven: My Friends
Behind my closed lids, a bright light was blinding me. I struggled to ignore it, thinking it was still to early to be awakened by the sun. When I heard my mother call out to me, however, my eyes shot open and I jolted upright to find myself, not in the guest bedroom, but surrounded by white. I was completely alone, not a distinguishable thing in sight. "Hello?"
My voice echoed all around me, but nothing answered back.
I stood slowly, my body felt weightless and my sight seemed to be covered by a haze, as if I was looking directly into a black-light. My brow was damp with sweat, feverish, and I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. Where in the world was I?
"Cecily," a voice called; Father's voice.
I turned around, still unsure of which direction I was facing. "Dad?"
"Follow your dreams, Cece...."
"We believe in you, Cece...."
"We love you, Cece..."
I had exhausted myself by swirling around in search of my parents, but it was only me in this room.
Suddenly, there was a ghastly groan and it shook the void violently like an earthquake. I cried out as I lost my balance and feel to my knees. The groans turned to that of a roar, monstrous and deep. A large, winged, shadow grew over me and I looked over my shoulder to see a black monster growing from the light. It was enormous and had no arms, not even a face. The sound it made was otherwordly and I ran as the thing began to stretch out toward me with it's wing.
It didn't seem like I had run very far before my body slammed into a wooden door. I grunted, bouncing off of it, the groud quaking beneath my feet. Without hesitation, my head flew toward the knob and the door opened just as the monster behind me crashed into the ground, the force shooting me through.
I screamed, tumbling across the floor and into the wall.
Again, there was silence.
I whimpered, opening my eyes. I felt like I had blacked out for a moment, my eyes refocusing on the new room. I gasped and sat up, turning toward the door only to find it had vanished. I blinked rapidly, even rubbed my eyes, but there was no more door. In fact, the room I now found myself in was my bedroom. The TARDIS was gone, and so was my bed. The only thing that remained was a white crib that I slept in as a baby, a soft lullaby playing from a glass globe.
"Look, Rory," a femimine voice spoke, startling me. I looked over my shoulder to the red headed girl and sandy haired man standing there. My eyes widened in disbelief. "It's the Doctor's new friend."
My eyes swelled with tears and I stood, "Amy Pond?"
Amy smiled and nodded, reaching out to help me maintain my disoriented balance.
"Are you all right?" Rory asked, delicately grabbing on to his wife's hand.
"I-I think so," I rasped, looking between them. "How can you be here? You... You're—"
"Dead?"
My throat tightened and I wrung my hands. "Where is the Doctor?"
"He's still around," Amy answered, dimples in her cheeks. "You're dreaming, Cece."
"Dreaming?"
"Yes, and we're not the only ones here."
My eyes followed Amy's gaze and I saw two others standing by the closet. One was a blond woman, her hair kept short. Her smile was warm, motherly, and I knew her as Mary Watson.
