She could not remember where she was, and her eyelids were too heavy to open, so she might as well lay there to think for a while. Alright, she thought to herself, let me get this cleared. She could hear noises around her, but they were too faint, or she was not hearing well. She was shivering uncontrollably, definitely because of cold, not fear. She felt as if energy was all drained out of her body, only leaving an empty shell. Most importantly, she was in extreme pain. She was not sure how she would describe the pain, but it was like something had just pierced into her body. She wanted to get up but could not muster enough energy even to open her eyes. Oh well, she thought, maybe this was a chance for her to break from her fast-paced life. Living in New York City was not easy. Everything was fast, and everyone was busy. She had to fight hard for everything, her grades, friends, and even her parents. She always thought if she was good enough, her parents would be proud and bother to take more time off to accompany her. She was the top student in school, and everyone wanted to make friends with her, but she knew the time this top place was no longer hers, everything would leave along with her glory. She was young but not stupid. She had skipped two grades, so too many of the twelfth graders treated her like young kids who did not understand what they said, but obviously, she did. She did not like being at the top of everything too. Too much envy, jealousy, greed, and too many human emotions. She hated them—the disgusting feature of humans. No one could avoid them, maybe except her. She was like a machine to most people, not exposing even a tiny bit to people, but that's just because she liked to keep to herself. Her memories kept on replaying in her mind, so clear and sharp. Every moment of her life seemed to be in front of her. Joy, fear, anger, loneliness, all her emotions at once. She felt so overwhelmed. Then, she remembered her parents were coming home that day. Slowly, she opened her eyes to a slit but immediately shut them again. She was trying to see if she had opened her eyes incorrectly. The scene in front of her was just her imagination. She tried again, hoping it was just a dream just now. Sadly, it was not.Blood surrounded her body, and it was still oozing from her chest. Her eyes widened in fear as she tried to stand up and run. However, her effort was futile. No matter how hard she tried, she could not get up. She could hear snickering and giggling around her. Another stabbing pain came from her legs. She could vaguely see a few eyes staring at her mockingly. "You would remain here forever, no one will ever fight the top place with me." a voice chuckled, sending chills down her spine. The pain was replaced with numbness. She was cold, freezing kind of cold. Her body instinctively curled into a ball. A dizzy spell hit her like someone had struck her hard on her head. She could hear vibrations in her skull. She wanted to vomit. She knew she could not hold on anymore."This will not be the end..." she hissed, but before she could finish the sentence, darkness engulfed her.
