(Jake's POV)
Another day of music club. The competition has passed (and we won!!!). Hailey's got lots more planned for the music club for the rest of the year. It's too bad that Sean is graduating this year since he won't be able to be in the music club next year.
Anyways, I'm heading towards the club room when, of all people, Zander stops me in my tracks. Oh no. Whenever Zander stops me in the hall, he's got something bad to say. He says, "Hey Jake. You know, Luke's not going to be at practice today. He has the stomach bug that's been going around school. I was going to practice too."
Well that was unexpected. Poor Luke. He really wanted to come to practice today. Maybe he wrote another song for Zander and he wants to sing it this time. Oh well. He can do that another day. We walk side by side down the halls. We make eye contact for a moment, but he turns his head to look down the hall. Maybe he's just upset that Luke is sick.
(Time skip to just outside the club room door)
(Zander's POV)
I can see the club room door from where I'm walking with Jake. I can hear arguing in there. "I'm telling you, we can't do this without Luke!" "Why not, Hailey?" "Because... ugh! You wouldn't get it!" "Calm down, Hailey..." "We just can't practice without him! He told me we need him for practice today - but he's got that damn stomach bug!" I open the door, and they all look at us.
"Did I- we come at a bad time," I say. Hailey looks at me with a confused look on her face. "You've never walked with Jake before," she says, "You close to him? I mean, your hands are..." I tense up and shout, "Did you have to make things awkward, Hailey? We were just walking in the same direction."
Jake whispers in my ear, "Could you, uhhhhh, not squeeze my hand so tightly???" I look down. I'm practically digging my nails into his skin. "Sorry..." I mumble.
#Jander moment
Hailey looks at me in disbelief. I sigh, "Jake and I are not a thing, and never will be. I'm with Luke, remember? Can't believe I have to say that to you, out of everyone..."
Okay that's Chapter 1! Sorry I rushed a bit to get it done... but I wonder... will Jander happen or will Lander continue... ;) hehehe 🤭
